As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the
world began: That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;
To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;
Luke 1.70f
And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna,
which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man
doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the
LORD doth man live.
Deuteronomy 8.3
Deuteronomy 8.3 struck me many years ago with its multiple reiterations of the Number 83. IT begins with this pair of identities:
Man Lives
|
|
= 83 = |
The Bread
|
|
The phrase "man doth not live by" is actually "man lives" followed by "not by" in the Hebrew. Also, the word bread has
a definite article in the verse above. Therefore, we have the following set of identities:
The Number 83 is also the value of such words as body, my substance, and members, as seen in the table below.
Now the True Bread is Jesus Christ, who is our Holy Covenant = 83. His body is represented by
the bread (=83) that is offered on the altar of the Lord (= 83).
This further integrates with ideas of feeding from the Word, and the Word as the Bread from Heaven,
and the scroll (megillah = 83) which God gave to Ezekiel to
eat in Ezekiel 3:1.
