Spoke 7
Psalm 51 7th Commandment
Thou shalt not commit adultery. ...................................Seventh Commandment
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto
him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the
multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever
before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight:
that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. Behold, I
was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Psalm 51 (Inner Cycle: Spoke 7, Cycle 3)
David and Bathsheba
The title of this Psalm integrates perfectly with its position on Spoke 7 of the Inner Cycle of the Psalms.
David broke the Seventh Commandment with Bathsheba whose name means Daughter of the Seven or Daughter of the
Oath - the word Sheba being a pun meaning either Seven (S# H7651) or Oath
(S# H7650) (cf.
Seven and Scripture). This teaches the essence of the Seventh
Commandment which is the commanmdment based on the Oath of Faithfulness to one's spouse (cf.
Romans 7).
Conception
The reference to conception links to the
Divine Annunciation of the sinnless
saviour, thou David's confession reveals that his conception was tainted by sin, in contrast with the
conception of Christ.
The Lord the Judge
We also have a KeyLink to the Book of Judges (Spoke 7, Cycle 1) based on the set
("Against thee", Sinned, Judg*) [Verify] which appears only in Psalm 51 and Judges
Wherefore I have not sinned against thee, but thou doest me wrong
to war against me: the LORD the Judge be judge this day between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon.
Note that this verse is the central defining verse of the Book of Judges which defines the title of the
Lord as YHVH HaShopat (cf. Spoke 7: The Lord the Judge and
Psalm 7: The Lord shall Judge).

Note: I used modnotation to write 51 = 73 = Spoke 7, Cycle 3.
