Spoke 3

God's Spirit and His People

Psalm 3 chain Psalm 47

Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people.

Psalm 3 (vs. 8)

The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.

Psalm 47 (vs. 9)

Great themes from Spoke 3 of the BibleWheel manifest here on Spoke 3 of the Inner Cycle of the Psalms. It all integrates with the nature of the Eternal Godhead, specifically the Third Person, God the Holy Spirit. The links are so rich, I will simply comment verse-by-verse. Note that the Number 47 gives the position of 2 Corinthians on Spoke 3, Cycle 3. This is because 47 = 3 + 2 x 22 = 33 (see modnotation). Thus Psalm 3 and Psalm 47 are aligned on Spoke 3 of the Inner Cycle of the Psalms

1: LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. 2: Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.

The word "increased" is from the root pic (rabab, Strongs #7231) whence we get Rabbi. It means to be or become many or great, which integrates with the function the Holy Spirit who magnifies (Gimel KeyWord Gadal) the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, nourishes the Church, and leads the People of God in the paths of their King. The same root is found in Psalm 25 (= 3 + 22) where we find a strikingly thematic correlation based on the words soul, trouble, and increase or many. Beginning with verse 19, we read:

Consider mine enemies; for they are many (Strongs #7231); and they hate me with cruel hatred. O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee. ... Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

Searching the entire KJV for all verses that contain Strongs # 7231 within one verse of the word "soul" yields exactly 2 verses, both quoted above. We have therefore this Inner Cycle Spoke 3 KeyLink between Psalm 3 and Psalm 25:

keyKeyLink: 'Enemies of My Soul'
PPsalms( 31 ) chain PPsalms( 32 )

3: But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

This verse also links directly to Psalm 25 (= 3 + 22) through the words lift and soul. We read (vss. 1f):

Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

The Shield is called pic (Magen - cf GR 93). This round and surrounding image relates to the the Number 3 and the Holy Spirit. It also appears in Psalm 47 ( = 3 + 44), quoted at the head of this page:

The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.

Note the intgration with the concept of the "people of God."

4: I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. 5: I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.

This echoes the resurrection on the Third Day, the words slept and awaked being the explicit biblical metaphors for Death (cf Spoke 4 > Dead Four Days and Psalm 4 in this Inner Cycle) and Resurrection to Life (cf Inner Cycles > Matthew > The Dead are Raised and Wheel > Spoke 5 > The Blessing of Life). The Lord the Spirit sustains and upholds us, giving us new life.

6: I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about. 7: Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. 8: Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people.

The word translated as "ten thousands" is rebabbah, the feminine form of Strongs # 7231. Note the concept of being surrounded. The word translated as Teeth is Shin - the basis of the 21st letter, which also is a symbol of the Holy Spirit (cf. GR 300) and of the same Reduction Class as the Letter Gimel.
