The Transfiguration

Matthew 17 chain 2 Peter

And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

The Inner Cycles of both Matthew and Genesis are linked by the first occurrence of a theophany with people falling on their faces before the majesty of the Lord. The thematic integration with the Pey KeyWord pic (panim, face) is amplified in the passage from Matthew 17 above, with the words "and his face did shine as the sun."

The significance of all of this is further amplified when we recognize that 2 Peter is the only book outside the Gospels that refers to the Transfiguration reported in Matthew 17! It is extremely important to note the detailed perfection of the divine design. There are many details that link 2 Peter to Spoke 17 and 1 Peter to Spoke 16. The striking differences drove the scholars to declare that they could not have been written by the same human writer. Though the design of the Wheel does not by itself prove that the same man wrote the two Epistles named for Peter, it only makes sense to believe the Bible on this point since the Wheel does prove beyond all doubt that the entire Bible was designed by One Author - namely the Lord God Almighty! As with the Solution to the Synoptic Problem, we see that God designed the differences between First and Second Peter on the pattern of the Hebrew alphabet.

Yet there is more. Matthew's record of the Transfiguration contains the phrase "in whom I am well pleased" which is missing from the parallel accounts given in Mark and Luke. This means that there is a true KeyLink between Matthew 17 and 2 Peter! Searching all seven
