Winepress of God's Wrath
Revelation 19 Isaiah 63
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat
upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and
make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns;
and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was
clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word
of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses,
clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp
sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with
a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath
of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name
written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
Revelation 19.11f
The Books of Isaiah and Revelation - placed by God on the first and the last Spokes -
share two fundamental characteristics not
found in any other books of the Bible:
1) They are the two books in which the
Lord God Almighty placed His
seven declarations of His
eternal nature as
the First and Last, thereby simultaneously integrating the
semantic content
of these statements with the geometric structure of the Wheel
and the symbolic meaning of the Number Seven.
2) They are both Inner Wheels. Their chapter structures
perfectly integrate with the 22 Spokes. The 66 chapters
Isaiah form a one-to-one correspondence with the sequence of the entire Canon,
and the 22 chapters of Revelation form a one-to-one correspondence with the
sequence of the Hebrew alphabet.
The miracle to behold now is the divine integration of the structure of Isaiah
with that of Revelation.
The verses above from Revelation 19 are integrated with the content from
Isaiah 63 (Spoke 19, Cycle 3 of the Inner Wheel of Isaiah). I begin with
Isaiah 63.1:
Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah?
this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his
strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. Wherefore art
thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the
winefat? I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there
was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them
in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and
I will stain all my raiment. For the day of vengeance is in mine heart,
and the year of my redeemed is come. And I looked, and there was none
to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine
own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me. And I
will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my
fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.
Here are the primary correlations between these passages:
Isaiah 193 | Revelation 19 |
I that speak in righteousness |
in righteousness he doth judge |
Wherefore art
thou red in thine apparel? ... their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments |
And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood |
thy garments like him that treadeth in the
winefat ...I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there
was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them
in my fury |
and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath
of Almighty God |
The thematic link between theses passages is quite obvious. But they also are
connected with a KeyLink which is discovered by
searching the KJV for all verses that use the word "treadeth" within one verse of
"winepress". This yields only the verses quoted above. We have a KeyLink:
