Murderous Priests
Thou shalt not murder.
The Sixth Commandment
Gilead is a city of them that work iniquity, and
is polluted with blood. And as troops of robbers wait for a man,
so the company of priests murder in the way by consent:
for they commit lewdness. I have seen an horrible thing in the house of Israel: there is
the whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled.
Hosea 6:8ff (Spoke 6, Cycle 2)
This verse is the only verse in the Bible that speaks of priests as murderers.
It uses the exact word – ratzach (murder) – from the Sixth Commandment.
This shows the depth of sin that had infected the religious instition of Israel. This sin is the polar opposite of
what God intended with the Six Cities of Refuge where the slayer was set free at the death of the High Priest
(typology of the death of Christ).
