Divine Epistemology - Knowing God

Post by RAMcGough »

Epistemology is the philosophical study of knowledge, how we know and what it means to know something.

The word "epistemology" is straight from the Greek ἐπίσταμαι (epistamai, G1987, to know).

God encoded His divine epistemology into the Hebrew word "to know"

YOD (hand) Dalet (door) AYIN (eye)

Real knowledge involves both touching with the hand and seeing with the eye. Thus we understand 1 John 1:1

1 John 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; 2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) 3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

Within yado are the letters of ed (witness) as in this verse:

Isaiah 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

Here we see "edi" (my witnesses) spelled ayin dalet yod (same letters as "to know" and the promise is that the Servant of YHVH (Jesus Christ) will enable us to KNOW and BELIEVE (emunah).

These verses are very deep and worthy of much meditation. This is one of the primary projective keylinks from the 3D Bible onto the 2D image of the Bible within the Bible, aka the Book of Isaiah.

The phrase "that ye may know and believe appears no where in Scripture other than these two mathematically correlated verses.

You can SEE and TOUCH the evidence God has presented to you in His Holy Word. Then when you reach out to Christ in faith, you will KNOW Him in your soul. This is as intimate as relations between a man and his wife, as explained by Paul:

Ephesian 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26that He might [g]sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 30For we are members of His body, [h]of His flesh and of His bones. 31“For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

And this links back to Genesis when Adam "KNEW" his wife Eve and she conceived. I pray these words will help Christ be born in all who read this, as Paul explained:

Galatians 4:19 My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,

He used the language of BIRTH. Becoming a Christian is not a mere "intellectual" activity. It is not mere assent to a belief. As James said "The devils believe and tremble".

Real faith is an action of the soul when it turns towards God.

God bless you all as you work out your salavation in fear and trembling.
Praising God all the day long!
