The Harvest Festival
So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley
harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.
Ruth 2:23 (Spoke 8, Cycle 1)
The Book of Ruth is read by the Jews on the Feast of Shavuot, known to Christians as Pentecost, which
commemmorates the giving of the Law (Torah). A whole series of articles
expaining many of the
traditional reasons Ruth is associated with Pentecost may be found in Aish.com. A good place
to start is in the article simply called
Shavuot .
There is an extremely deep relation between Spoke 8 and Spoke 22, where Pentecost is recorded
in Acts (Book 44). This is discussed in some detail in the Spoke 22
Pentecost article.
