Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested Tuesday on charges of conspiring to get financial benefits through his authority to appoint a U.S. senator to fill the vacancy left by Barack Obama's election as president.

According to a federal criminal complaint, Blagojevich also was charged with illegally threatening to withhold state assistance to Tribune Co., the owner of the Chicago Tribune, in the sale of Wrigley Field. In return for state assistance, Blagojevich allegedly wanted members of the paper's editorial board who had been critical of him fired.

A 76-page FBI affidavit said the 51-year-old Democratic governor was intercepted on court-authorized wiretaps over the last month conspiring to sell or trade the vacant Senate seat for personal benefits for himself and his wife, Patti.

Sen. Ted Stevens, one of 18 Republican Senators running for reelection this year, was indicted today by a federal grand jury for seven felony counts of making false statements.

The 28-page indictment (http://a.abcnews.go.com/images/TheLaw/STEVENS_INDICTMENT.pdf#http://a.abcnews.go.com/images/TheLaw/STEVENS_INDICTMENT.pdf) charged that the Alaska Republican "knowingly and intentionally sought to conceal and cover up his receipt of things of value by filing Financial Disclosure Forms that contained false statements and omissions" regarding $250,000 in gifts of value.

"Senator Stevens accepted gifts from a privately held company called VECO," said Matthew Friedrich, acting assistant attorney general of the Justice Department's criminal division, describing myriad renovations to Stevens' house that the oil services company VECO paid for.


Just look at that! The word "Republican" screams in HUGE FONT in the main headline and is repeateed in the subtitle and BOTH the first and second paragraphs! I compared many other articles and found that this DELIBERATE BIAS runs throughout their "reporting." This is absolutely outrageous. ABC News appears to be nothing but a propaganda machine and attack dog for the Democrats masquerading as a "news souce."

Spread the word. The liberal bias has gotten entirely out of hand and needs to be exposed and rebuked.

Hello Richard! I'm afraid you don't realize the seriousness of the situation. I also noticed in a couple of news sources this lack of emphasis on the word "Democrat" in the Illinois governor scandal. But that is just the tip of the iceberg. It is much much much much worse than that. It is not only the "liberal media", but the media in almost its entirety that deliberately omits pieces of information that have enormous implications.

Do you think, for example, that the American public has the right to know that the now president of the USA in his short politic carreer actively campaigned with Senate funds for a man guilty of murder of 1,000+ people who destroyed by fire 800+ Christian church buildings in an African country? Almost nobody speaks about that, no Fox News, nothing. Do you think Americans knew about when they were deciding who to vote for? Do they have a right to know that? Don't you think that mainstream media is guilty of deceit for not mentioning such things?

What is happening in the American news media is terrifying for those who can see through it. Exaggeration? Conspiracy theory? A recent example will allow you to judge for yourself and draw your own conclusions.

When Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was accused of attempting to sell Obama’s Senate seat, the first question that came to the mind of police authorities was whether the President-elect had partnered with him or at least was aware of what was going on. There was no hiding the question, not only because it came directly from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, but also because, a few weeks earlier, one of the main Obamist campaign aides, David Axelrod, had mentioned in an interview a recent meeting between Obama and governor Blagojevich. Obama’s reassuring reply came right away, after, according to him, a thorough internal investigation, and was promptly trumpeted by the media as the final solution to the riddle: No, not even Obama himself, nor any member of his team had had any contact whatsoever with Blagojevich. Axelrod was quick to confirm it, swearing that his first declaration had been just a slip-up. With that, the media announced en bloc, to the general relief of the believers, that Blagojevich’s fall did not in any way stain the anointed Messiah’s honor.

Displeased with such a facile clarification, the non-profit organization Judicial Watch subpoenaed Blagojevich, under the Freedom of Information Act, to disclose all official records of any recent contact between the governor and Barack Obama or any member of his team. What came in response was astounding, to say the least: a letter written on the Presidential Transition Team’s letterhead, signed personally by Barack Obama, in which he thanked Blagojevich for the meeting they had had in Philadelphia on December 2, only a week before the Illinois governor was arrested. Even worse: not only had Obama and Blagojevich taken part into the conversation, but so had Vice-President-elect Joe Biden. It is full and official proof that Obama lied.

Well, do you know how many newspapers have publicized that so far? None. How many TV news programs? None. Complete silence, total protection of the darling’s image. No matter how many documents are made public, no matter how many facts are unveiled and thoroughly proved, no matter how many crimes and misdemeanors he might have committed, not a single word against Obama will be read or heard in the elegant media. The abyss between news and reality has become immeasurable, insurmountable. With crushing unanimity, reporters, editors and commentators lie, conceal, obfuscate, change the subject and, with shocking cynicism, laugh at anyone who tries to do journalism the old fashioned way, the fact-and-document journalism, whose days are numbered, surviving only on the internet and talk radio. Nothing of what has been previously seen in Western democracies in terms of counterfeiting and news manipulation can compare to this absolute and relentless blockade, which can only be matched by totalitarian censorship in communist countries, the difference being that the latter was imposed by the government, while the first arises from voluntary complicity - a systemic and not conspiratorial one, exactly as predicted by communist strategist Antonio Gramsci.

More than Obama’s election itself, this phenomenon signals a historical sea-change, destined to bear devastating consequences on a global scale. Decades of indoctrination in the universities, based on the premise that there is no reality, just the 'imposition of the narrative,' have accomplished their goal: a new generation of journalists has come to power at the news rooms, deeply imbued with the strong belief that their duty is not to depict the world, but to transform it. The honorable public, likewise, is supposed to be swept up by this change, without knowing where it comes from or where it will lead to. Whether this curtain of darkness will remain closed for a thousand or just a few years, I don’t know.

What is certain is that it’s already descended upon the land that was once home to the free press.

I'm glad that you guys have finally come to this conclusion! But it's not fully correct to label it "liberal bias". ALL media in the United States of America are owned by the same group of people (and this is well documented) and are dedicated to the collapse of our country, either because they want it to happen for what they think is their benefit, or are being controlled and forced to comply. The people behind this know that the freedom that we have had here for over 200 years is the major obstacle to their objective, which is total world control in everything. Their cry could be stated, "By my might, and by my power, and NOT through the Spirit", we will have our kingdom! If we sit back and allow them to infiltrate with their "ideas" (they are only "liberal" because that is the best way to corrupt the mind) and we don't resist, we will very soon wake up without a free land to live in. We are on the doorstep of that right now. If we DO resist, we will be conquered militarily by others and those of our own that don't know what our Constitution has given us. In other words, a war with foreigners on our land compounded with a civil war. They are now fully committed to carrying out our destruction, and it will be happening very soon. (This was what was discussed in the closed door session of Congress last year, and it's supposed to happen during 2009.) The only thing that the planners of this haven't been able to control, or manage to their benefit, is the faith of Christians and the Power and Plan of God.
They have us lined up for a New World Order, but God has allowed this all to happen so as to bring about His New kingdom. He has allowed us to be fooled to the degree of our laziness, greed, selfishness, etc., so that we have thought that our enemy would come from the outside, but here we are, realizing that those we thought were our friends, are really our enemies and have been lining us up for the kill. This is truly the return of the spirit of Judas in our times. Bad fruit doesn't come from good trees, yet our lack of discernment has allowed us to think that all of this bad is caused by a "few bad apples" that landed on the ground and rotted, when actually we have been sold a bill of goods and told that it comes from the most excellent of the orchard. It's well time that we realize it's all poppycock.
The good that will come of this is eternal. Now we will be learning to supply our needs individually, such as food, shelter, and even clothing, and we will be forced to get to know and rely on our neighbors, and do the one thing that many American Christians have failed to do...give, and be servants for the betterment of others, and in this way, the Gospel will be lived out instead of just talked about.
