I am new to the forum and I thank God for this site. I will give a great story how God led me to this site next time.
I have been curious as to how we are suppose to Bless the Lord. I saw a great post by someone who says the soul should Bless the lord(Inside) and the mouth should praise him(outward).
My question is ,How do we bless him?
From Spoke 1 it seems that bless is linked with increase

[B]Isaiah 51.2: Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him. For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.
and again increase fruitful and Father of many nations and

Genesis 17.4: As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

It seems that to bless God is to desire an INCREASE of God in the world for he good. We are acknowledging and asking for an increase of his goodness. It is as if Abraham is a proto type representation of GOD(Abraham becomes the Father of all Nations because the gospel of Jesus is spread to all Nations with the great commission). Also Gods promise to AbrahamI will Bless those who Bless you seems to mean that God is really asking US to bless him so he can bless us in return. It seems God has Abraham playing the role of God and believers are his children .Can anyone help me with this .Thank you and welcome all:yo:

Good Job!
I have struggled to understand this word at times.

From God to men I see it as "giving favor to" (as in God's favor is on the poor in Spirit... ). I like the way you have opened it in the other direction (man to God) for my mind.

BTW, welcome!

Hi Collie,

I too have wondered about the typology of Abraham's family. Abraham is like the Father who willingly sacrifices His Son on Mount Moriyah. Isaac was a type of Christ the beloved son who carried the wood of the sacrifice. At the time of Isaac's binding upon the altar, his son Jacob/Israel was in his loins, yet unborn but promised. Jacob is a type of the christian/believer who is born from above through Christ. We have two natures like him in that he was a 'heel catcher'/Jacob-old nature, and a prince of God/Israel-new nature. There are many more parallels but that is enough to get my attention :)

Hello everyone. Happy greetings in the name of the anointed saviour. I will give you my view on 'Bless' and you can judge. For a long time now,I have been a bit annoyed by the way in which so many people use the word so loosely. It is often translated 'happy'. You may readily bless a loaf but you can't 'happy' a slice of .bread. Let's have a look at some of the words which are more appropriate in different contexts. Consecrate, hallow, sanctify, dedicate, extol, glorify, praise ,revere, adore, exalt, magnify, give thanks. Now it makes sense. Blessed (privileged)are they that mourn for they will be comforted. Fortunate (blessed) are you when all men revile you for my sake.Oh! I know that the word Makarios in greek is translated 'blessed' but just as in English, so also in Greek:One word can have various connotations. Well am I blessed.
