:chores015: Those familiar with the three generation periods of Matthew 1:16 (the 3x14) may appreciate how the Old Testament uses a similar strategy for counting the generations to David. The 1st Ten is from Adam to Noah, the 2nd Ten is from Shem to Abraham (1Chr 1:24-27), and the 3rd Ten is from Pharez to David, in Ruth 4:18. This last Ten should have started with Isaac, but it skips three names just as Matthew skips three names which divide the 39 from the 27 (like the Bible itself..).
The end result gives us 33 generations to David, and another 33 to Jesus! Like He really is "The Word".. all 66 Books! :thumb:

66 Generations: The OT uses (3x10)+3 to arrive at David#33 from Adam. Ruth4:18. From there we see nineteen (19) in the David Dynasty to get us to Assir#52 [whole deck of cards, hah] and then fourteen (14) is from the 3x14 of Matthew. Either way; 19+14=33 and (3x10)+3=33 gives us the 66 count to Jesus.

The nineteen (19) is the count prior to Abraham, as well as from David#33 to Assir#52.

The Matthew account includes many Kings of Judah, whereas the Luke account has multiple Josephs, including the husband of Mary, "supposed" father of Jesus. (GOD the real Father).
http://cswnet.com/~duxrow/GenChrt.htm for a more wordy explain.. :yo:

Adam#1, Noah#10, Abraham#20, Boaz#30, DAVID#33, plus 19=Assir#52, plus 14=JESUS#66.
Fourteen is from 3x14 in Matthew, and nineteen is count prior to Abraham. The skips in Matthew names is like the skips at Ruth4:18.
#52 like an English double-acrostic, or whole deck of cards. ha.

Gen6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

When Jesus spoke of "this generation" in Matt24:34 and compared it to Noah's, we may have overlooked how Noah was 500 years old before having his three sons, and then another 100 years before the Ark was ready to float. So Noah was 500 before the NEXT generation (his 3 sons) were born, and they became centurions by the time the Ark was ready. Maybe the centurions of today are also getting ready?

I'm connecting this with the Book of Esther, 3:14/8:13, where the King's publication was to prepare the people to be "ready against that day". :sEm_blush8:
