Four (4) Generations
1. Jacob's family were told about going down to Egypt for 4 generations, Gen15:16, and that fits the genealogy of Moses (Levi - Kohath - Amram - Moses). Levi would've been a young father of three, Gen46:11, going down to Egypt, and Moses would lead them out of that slavery. OK?

2. The Book of Ruth ends with ten generations (Pharez to David), but the final four beginning with Boaz are what stands out as pertinent to the story of Ruth. Boaz is the Redeemer father of baby Obed, who becomes the father of Jesse (Isa 11:1), the father of David. The reader, at this point, might not question why the ten generations begins with Pharez, or why the baby was named 'Obed'..

3. Just prior to Noah's Ark being taken away, the final four generations were Enoch to Methuselah to Lamech to Noah. We naturally think of this as a time of catastrophe, but maybe should remember the Ark of Moses and the Ark of Testimony, and how WE are supposed to be containers of Christ. Gal 4:19

4. Isaiah 1:1 as well as Hosea 1:1 BEGINS with 4-Generations (father to son) -- Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, Hezekiah. Note that Hezekiah wasn't the last King of Judah, altho it was during his reign that the Northern Kingdom of Israel was carried away.

From Great-grandpa, to Grandpa, to Father, to Son -- Isaiah 1:1 and Hosea 1:1 both read from: Uzziah to Jotham to Ahaz to Hezekiah -- 4 generations of father to son, and separated by 4 books of the Bible! Are these 4's simply a clue to 'family generations' or emphasis of 'father-to-son' generations, exclusive of females? :pop2:

:welcome: Finally! No 'grandfathers' in the Bible, per se, but Lois and Eunice figure in the Timothy Generation, wouldn't you say?

2Tim1:5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. :thumb:

The 4 generations of Israeli's that went down into Egypt might be considered Levi, Kohath, Amram, and Moses -- Grandfather, father, son, and Grandson, just like our modern 4Gen photo..

Then the 4Gen of Isaiah 1:1 and Hosea 1:1 may be another piece of the puzzle.. So why wouldn't you consider seriously the final-4 of Matt 1:16, where there's ANOTHER Jacob to Joseph! So maybe the church-fathers didn't have the advantage of modern study aids.. You think?
