Reading the news this morning, I was quite surprized to find that Cuba just lifted the ban (http://www.reuters.com/article/technologyNews/idUSN1329909720080313?feedType=RSS&feedName=technologyNews&rpc=22&sp=true) on PCs! I was shocked not because of this vast expansion of personal freedom in the People's Heaven of Cuba, but because I had no idea that Cuba was such a fascist hell-hole. A modern 21st century country that denied its people the freedom to buy a PC? Impossible? Nope (http://www.wired.com/politics/law/news/2002/03/51270).

This then brings up a HUGE question. How can we understand the left wing Hollywood supporters of Castro like Michael Moore (http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Movies/02/21/michael.moore.ap/), Oliver Stone, Harry Belefonte, etc., etc., etc., etc., ???? Here's a short list of quotes provided by Michelle Malkin (http://michellemalkin.com/2008/02/19/breaking-castro-to-resign/):

'Very selfless and moral. One of the world’s wisest men.' –Oliver Stone.
'Cuba’s Elvis.' –Dan Rather.
'Castro is at the same time the island, the men, the cattle, and the earth. He is the whole island.' –Jean Paul-Sartre.
'A dream come true!' –Naomi Campbell.
'If you believe in freedom, if you believe in justice, if you believe in democracy, you have no choice but to support Fidel Castro!' –Harry Belafonte.
'A genius.' –Jack Nicholson.
'Fidel, I love you. We both have beards. We both have power and want to use it for good purposes.' –Francis Ford Coppola.
'The first and greatest hero to appear in the world since the Second World War.' –Norman Mailer.
'Socialism works. I think Cuba might prove that.' –Chevy Chase.
'Castro is an extraordinary man. He is warm and understanding and seems extremely humane.' –Gina Lollobrigida.I am trully dumbfounded by anyone who could enthusiastically support a dictator like Castro. Of couse, his crimes are much greater than the mere denial of freedom to buy a PC, but given its role in the modern world it is a fitting image of the backwards and perverse rule of the Cuban dictator, and all his lunatic left-wing Hollywood supporters.
