I was wondering what anyone's thoughts were about the topic of UFOs. I am convinced that whatever small amount of truth that there is to the phenomenon, it is either secret military things or demonic. Here is a site that displays UFOs and "aliens" in old religious art and other art.

There are perfectly valid explainations for these things which have been conveniently left out of page.

I'll be sure to check out your link - I don't think I've heard of that site.
Another really good one is http://alienresistance.org/
I've personally never had any sort of contact, sightings, etc., but I'm convinced that millions are convinced they have. I've read that these beings/entities/whatever have a tendancy to contact primarily people with some kind of occult activity in their genealogy, which, if true, says a lot about their nature and/or intent.

Hi friend.
I will checkout the site. I am convinced that there is definitely something happening. However, so much of it is hoaxes, imaginations, delusions, and wishful thinking. Whitely Strieber is a prime example. But the common stream of phenomena suggests real demonic activity on some level. I don't doubt that people actually have seen and experienced unexplainable things. The spiritual realm is "outside of the box" of rational reasoning.

I checked out that site. With all love and respect, I will say that the site is not credible. I have carefully searched out the Biblical texts employed in the site long ago. I can safely say (and possibly prove) that they are not speaking about what the site presumes. I have carefully consicdered such ideas. If you really want to know what I would say, I can tell you. Have you had a "close encounter of the 1,2, or 3 kind?"

Interesting. Can you elaborate?

Sure, but what exactly do you want me to elaborate on?

As for UFOs in religious art, check out these pages for a more honest and realistic analysis:

Excellent info Eliyahu. :thumb:
The intro at the top of the first page (http://sprezzatura.it/Arte/Arte_UFO_eng.htm) seems particularly relevent to the time of ignorance in which we live:
“Meanwhile the average man had become progressively less able to recognize the subjects or understand the meaning of the works of art of the past. Fewer people had read the classics of Greek and Roman literature, and relatively few people read the Bible with the same diligence that their parents had done. It comes as a shock to an elderly man to find how many biblical references have become completely incomprehensible to the present generation.”
Kenneth Clark (http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Cafe/7500/intro-art.html)( introduction to"Dictionary of subjects and symbols in Art" by James Hall)
The examples are very enlightening. They show a kind of ignorance that we all must guard against. One of the first examples (http://sprezzatura.it/Arte/Arte_UFO_2_eng.htm) I looked at showed two "UFOs" on either side of the cross like this:
http://sprezzatura.it/Arte/Mtskheta.jpg
Of course, the "UFOs" are really just standard representations of the Sun and the Moon! The article (http://sprezzatura.it/Arte/Arte_UFO_2_eng.htm) gives a dozen examples proving this point, and could have given hundreds more if necessary.

Thanks Richard.
I actually read Skeptic magazines regularly. I find them quite stimulating. I really can see human pride blinding then from any faith though. They often demonstrate how both people of faith and aitheist/skeptics present things in a light that favors their own personal beliefs all too often. Where is objectivity and honesty anymore? Why are we afraid to admit when we just don't have all the answers?
Kind of changing the subjuect to something else, have you ever seen this page about dinosaurs? http://www.genesispark.org/genpark/ancient/ancient.htm
What do you think about the notions they are getting at? I can't just rule out everything there and still be honest. I also can't be dogmatic and make the Bible state a 6,000 year old earth. I honestly can't make the Bible give us a literal 6,000 year human history. I can quite assuredly see the earth as Biblically having been made into the life filled wonder it was in Genesis 1 in the last untold thousands of years (as opposed to countless millions). Before the six day creation in Genesis, there is not enough info in scripture to honestly guess at how old the earth or the universe actually is or what may or may not have happened in the heavens and the earth before man was made.

Eliahu prefers demons, if not hoaxes. But here are two things to consider.
In a previous decade I was a Senior Editor of a NYC publisher, and had to talk to a UFOlogist. I found out that UFO sightings have been tracked worldwide by air traffic controllers and air force bases.
The sightings and activities went off the scale in spring 1948 and June 1967.
These are times of Arab-Israeli wars, where only miracles could have saved the Israelis outnumbered 10-1. Arab generals complained that Israel was helped by the U.S. Airforce in unknown but massive ways. Perhaps this "Air Supremecy" had something to do with a Divine force -- which we call UFOs.
The author, with a PhD in Physics, related technical evidence that "flying saucers" had flight, stopping and turning capabilities beyond anything capable in human technology, and beyond the human capacity to endure G's.
I asked him if these so-called flying saucers could be sentient, non-human beings, rather than aircraft flown by pilots.
He was taken aback. But he said it WOULD answer many questions. How did you ever conceive of such a theory?
I told him that one kind of Biblical angel is called Ophanim -- wheels. Perhaps these round beings are what we call flying saucers.
He seemed to hesitate. "I'm sorry," he finally said, "but I don't take any stock in anything in the bible." But the idea that some vehicular phenomemnon might actually be sentient beings is intriguing, and something to discuss with my peers."
Just a theory.
And so, I am not removing adorable Cherubim from your nursery crib, or fiery Serafim from your barbque grill, I'm just wishing you a souped up pair of Ophanim for your garage.

Hello, I've always loved astronomy and love to look up at the stars on a clear night. I even keep an eye out for a 'star' that might start bobbing about.
We are billions of miles from the edge of our own solar system and the Earth is the only planet here capable of sustaining life. Unless there are areas of our solar system yet unexplored (that have life) it would be a major feat for aliens to visit us. This suggests to me that aliens are demonic.
However, our solar system moves through a large galaxy which is just one of billions of galaxies in the universe. [Some physicists now argue the existence of a multiverse (parallel universes)]. God is creative and awesome - there is no doubt that this marvelous universe exists! The immense number of galaxies in this universe suggests that God may have created other civilizations.
In the end all I can really do is ponder the awesomeness of the creator. I really don't understand the purpose of this multi galaxy universe. I do know for sure that we are here on Earth and God has a plan for the Earth and his people.
Anything extra is beyond my understanding.
