Paul’s gospel must be accepted, it must be believed today, and you can be sure that confusion concerning that gospel through the use of a counterfeit gospel; a gospel that looks so much like Paul’s gospel that you’d not know the difference, if you didn’t clearly know Paul’s gospel, will be Satan’s focus in this age of grace.

One of Satan’s purpose in this age of grace is to confuse Paul’s gospel with a gospel so nearly to it, and there are many people out there today saying all you have to do is to believe in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and you’re saved. They believe this in almost every church across the board that Christ died, was buried and rose again, but what do they believe was accomplished by that death, burial and resurrection?

In their minds, they were separating themselves for God by their sin, and Paul is saying that God has already reconciled you where your sins are concerned. God is reconciled where the sins of the world are concerned, because he imputed those sins to Christ, that all who would believe what he imputed to Christ, that that resolved the sin issue forever, and are now joined to his son and have his righteousness freely counted to them, or imputed to their account.

Paul called it the ministry of reconciliation, Christ fulfilled the law for us, so we are identified with the righteousness of Christ the moment we take God at his word, obedient to the faith, concerning what Christ accomplished on our behalf. Today our service comes not out of apprehension to any of those things; our service today comes based solely on our appreciation for what Christ has already done.

Hello newnature

I see you already posted this thread in the main Christianity forum and I contributed.
Here is my contribution again.
I expect Richard could cancel this thread for the reason of duplication.

Hello newnature

Yes, Paul's teaching or the Gospel, must be accepted. Note that it is not Paul's gospel, it is the gospel concerning Jesus the Christ and the kingdom of God of which Jude spoke of when he said (Jude3) ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

Paul writes (Galatians 1:8); But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
It was not Paul's gospel alone.

Paul wrote many things which are hard to understand and to understand what Paul was writing about we have to refer to the scriptures that Paul would have know by heart. The gospel was first preached to Abraham and even before then at the time of the fall of Eve, God gave the world hope that the seed of the woman would crush the head of the serpent and if we understand this symbology correctly, that is indeed "good news".

Only God knows the heart of each individual and God knows the sincerity of a person and that is why God has given all authority to His Son to be the judge of all human hearts in the day of resurrection.

We can have all the appearance of believing in the resurrection of Jesus and of God, but unless that is somehow demonstrated by our actions, who knows how we will be judged? Of Israel God said (Isaiah 29:13);Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: Even God's people who at one time said; All that the Lord commands, we will do. showed in a little over a month how fickle they were and did that which was an abomination to God.

Jesus said we must do "all that fulfills righteousness" and so he was baptized by John. This is one act we can do that is a visible demonstration of our repentance and willingness to change direction in life and follow the commandments which Jesus fulfilled. If Jesus showed us what it is necessary to do, then we do not do that at our peril. Alas, we fail to live up to his perfection on a daily basis however hard we try and so it is very necessary to have the perfect covering of Jesus by which he is able to present us before His Heavenly Father and presently make intercession for us.

This is an interesting point you raise for it can be regarded that we are in effect in the kingdom of God now if we are in fellowship with Christ and our entrance fee into the kingdom has already been paid. However, if you believe in a day of judgement, then than keeps us in check; for while we should have a strong faith and confidence that we shall be in the kingdom of God, nevertheless, our failings should keep us from boasting and thinking we are saved regardless of what we do. There is always the possibility that our faith might depart and and Jesus is denied before ever reaching the kingdom which God has planned for this earth.

It is important that once we believe and accept and Jesus and follow his teaching and follow the commandments then we should not sin willingly otherwise as Paul writes (Hebrews 10); 26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, We should also keep in mind that there will be many who stand before Jesus on the day of judgement who will be rejected; Jesus said (Matt 7) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

I trust that we will not hear those words from Jesus.

All the best

David

Here is a cool teaching about when Paul received the good news he was to proclaim.

Paul revealed a secret that God had hid before the foundations of the world.
