Ps 27:1

Hello Everyone,

Of all my posts, this may be the most important. I implore you to watch this video. You may dislike my theology:pray:, my humor:D, my intelligence:p, my whatever, but I beg you to please watch this. I have no monetary investment in this, but having been a public school teacher for many years, I am well aware of the current health crisis in our nation, especially among our youth which makes me angry and sad.

I have been aware of proper nutrition for years, but it is easy to succumb to bad eating habits. I'm determined to get back to eating for health and would like to share and hear success stories. A year and a half ago, I was running 40 -60 miles a week (running to school 10 miles each way) and was in a 32 size waist at 6'3" 190 lbs. Now I'm over 230 again and 36 is tight:eek: Getting falsely accused at work didn't help, but that is still no excuse. When I was replacing the siding and roof on our house this last fall and winter, I had a terrible problem with carpal tunnel syndrome in both arms and I may have a stress fracture in my left foot right now. (Not from running, because I quit running regularly in Nov 2010 and my foot problem is recent)

I hope to be able to share a "healing" story soon. Please feel free to share any of your "healing" stories.

Hey there Steve,

I'm all for good health, exercise, and intelligent eating habits. Sory to hear about your weight gain. I'm having similar issues. I'm only 5'7" and had gotten up to 225. So I changed my diet, ate less and exercised a LOT and got my weight down to 190 which was pretty good. I would typically walk three miles a day and ride my bicycle about 100-130 miles every week. I'm very muscular so the normal weight for someone my size (150-165) is quite unrealistic. But then I pulled a rib around Christmas and that interrupted my exercise routine and quit paying attention to what I was eating and now I'm already back up to 205. The body is just way too efficient at storing food.

I'll talk more when I finish watching the video.

All the best,

Richard

Arrrgggghhhh!!!!

The video is just like an infomercial. Slow, tedious, and so far (after SEVEN MINUTES) void of any information.

Steve - I can't listen to this guy for a whole hour. Could you just summarize the point of the whole thing?

Thanks.

...and that is the very reason Timmy downloads and converts most all vid files to mp3 then plays them at exceedingly high velocities with the WMP...and still so many seem too slow...but it's better than using an hour that can easily be accomplished in about 20+minutes.

Just a hint...but text is preferrred for this very (above) reason.

BTW, Timmy has too many healing incidents in personal history to recount. It all started with a miracle and being drawn into eventual unfolding into following more and more the health instructions Yah' reveals in Torah.

Sincerely,

Timmy

Good points Sir Timotheos.

I listened to most the video while doing other things and didn't learn anything new.

The Seventh Day Adventists are an interesting crew. They seem to think that God ordained vegetarianism ... and then commanded priests to eat meat???? And if you worship on Sunday you bear the mark of the beast! :lmbo:

Religion is the root of all silliness.

Very nice ... and it fits so well on Spoke 20 of the Bible Wheel, aligned with Dr. Luke's Gospel which focuses on health and healing (Resh KeyWord Rapha). See my article The Great Physician (http://biblewheel.com/Wheel/Spokes/Resh_Health.asp).

Hi Richard,

Okay, maybe I was being a little melodramatic. I was aware of most of the things covered as well, but you must remember they are not speaking to a room full of Phd's.:winking0071: My wife and I radically changed our diet around 1978 before we had even heard of SDAs. We gave up "unclean meats" and cut down on meat in general. We also switched to whole grains and even made a lot of our own bread and tofu. For a while, we were complete vegetarians but most of the time we still ate meat. We eat meat fairly regularly now, but I want to cut down on that and see if it helps with my joints and foot.

As far as what they talk about in the videos, most americans are clueless and you can see it in the general public. The schools have been one of the worst perpetrators for bad nutrition and the necessary changes are lagging in implementation. Obesity, along with "adult diseases", is occurring more frequently among our youth and that should be a major concern for all of us. Our current health care crisis would be greatly diminished if people would eat better and exercise instead of turning to the pharmaceutical industry for quick "fixes". Will it happen? It's hard to give up on junk food (I should know:lol:) especially with the media bombardment. There are several die hard myths that need to be let go of. http://www.sdada.org/plant.htm

One of the world's best ultramarathoner is a vegan. http://www.scottjurek.com/#/bio/ We're talking about 100+ mile races in the mountains or in the extreme heat of Death Valley. I first found out about him from reading "Born To Run" http://www.chrismcdougall.com/ Pretty good book minus some of the vulgar language.

You can also google studies on SDA's and see that they have about a 7 or 8 year greater life expectancy than the general public. That's nothing to sneeze at. I've been to a lot of SDA potlucks and even many of them don't follow the guidelines that stringently. I've heard or read that about 50% of SDA's eat some meat and a lot of them eat plenty of sugar and other processed foods (junk). Imagine if the majority of the SDA church actually practiced what has been taught. I'm sure we would see even less diseases and greater life expectancy among them.

In our own family, my wife's age is always underguessed, sometimes by 20 or more years.(mine, not so much:lol:) Our children, as well, were pretty healthy growing up. I think too much protein ages the body faster. I know it can leach calcium from your bones.

Concerning the priests: Killing and eating animals was never part of God's original plan. That all came about because of sin, but I know you don't believe that, so we'll just leave it at that.:winking0071:

Concerning Sunday being the mark of the beast: Yeah, that's a hard one for me to accept, but it does have a biblical basis. We shall see. Meanwhile, the accepted belief is that no one has it now, but in the future it will become a test of allegiance. Even if the SDA church is wrong about that, I still plan on keeping the sabbath because it is part of the 10 commandments and I see no biblical basis for its nullification.

Blessings,
Steve

Hey there Steve,

I agree completely that a good diet is important. But it's not a "cure all." For example, Davy Jones was a vegetarian and he dropped dead at 66 last week. And then there's always the famous case of Jim Fixx (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11926483) who thought that running would fix all your health problems, and he dropped dead at 52. And then we have the alternate cases of folks like George Burns who frequently smoked cigars lived to a hundred. We must never forget that our genes play a very important role in such matters.

That's very interesting, but not surprising. It makes sense that statistically folks who eat better and don't smoke or drink live longer.

That excuse doesn't work because it suggests that God commanded something that was not good for his people. And besides, the Bible never says that eating meat is bad for you. That's a doctrine inferred from the fact that "originally" God only gave the "green herbs" for food. What does the fall have to do with eating meat? Why would God give "every living thing that moveth" for food if it were something that we shouldn't eat?

The Ten Commandments were given to Israel under the first covenant. They are not given as part of the New Covenant. But I'm not interested in debating such things because everyone just does what is right in their own eyes anyway.

Great chatting!

Hey Richard,

I knew that about Jim Fixx, but I believe he ate a lot of fast food if I'm not mistaken. I understand genes have a big role to play and that was brought up in the cat study. The cats fed the cooked, etc. diet became sterile in the 4th generation. In other words, problems don't always show up right away.

I just got done watching the following video and think you will like this better. It moves faster, is more technical and plus, I enjoy Dr. Veith's teaching style. His accent is kind of endearing.

Towards the end he gets into dairy and osteoporosis. Remember, he was actually doing university research on this kind of stuff.

Have you all heard of Daniel's diet? Vegetables and water for ten days, abstain from royal food (mainly meat) and wine and you will look much healthier, younger and better nourished.

Daniel 1:11 Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, 12 'Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. 13 Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.' 14 So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.

15 At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. 16 So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead.

No one knows what the mark of the Beast actually is.

Richard Amiel McGough

No one knows what the mark of the Beast actually is.
I don't think that is true. Revelation makes it very clear that it is a symbol marking those who are not saved. It is the unbelievers' counterpart to the "Father's name" that is written on the forehead of believers. This is confirmed by the fact that the mark of the beast and the mark on believers appear together within the space of four verses. That's called "context." And it is confirmed again by the OT symbolism that readers of Revelation would have recognized:
Deuteronomy 6:6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes [forehead]. 9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

I don't think there is any mystery about the mark of the beast at all. The confusion was created by the incoherent "literal interpretation" promoted by Futurists who don't have half a clue about how to interpret the Bible.
