View Full Version : Anthropomorphization

Hey all,

First, the issue of elephants was being read in the mystery religion section of forum.
(and i'm thinkin' to myself doesn't everyone know the earth is bourne on the back of an elephant moving through the dark sea of space on the top of a terrapin's shell?)

Then on another thread it was all about sheep, and "mary had a little lamb came to mind" along with roast mutton...
and then out of the blue, the idea of hosenfeffer(sp?) wet my palate.

Before all this though, Joe (or was it Les?) knocked me for a reference to lions and lambs and sheep and serpents, who usually takes most everything quite literally, and might just think me too mystical; but he's the one who inferred this was symbolically in reference to people (on the Mt. 24:4-5 thread in Christianity/Ecstacologicalismology(or something like that)).
(and i'm thinking, how convenient, to randomly determine when something is literal or symbolic to suit predialections. . .and then i'm askin' my selfs, "say, selfs do you see that you probably are doing the very same thing and don't realize it. . .and one of my selfs answered back, remember what Richard wrote in comment concerning 'i' being the poster child for Romans 2.1. . .and i busted out laughing.

The notion just struck me like lightning while over-viewing the thread called: Shaddai, the Almighty "breasty" one.

We really are not that far away from the thinking of human originating ancestry
(whatever your view on that take, or take on that view is).

We still use our memory/imagination concerning everything under the sun.

With this comes the idea that if there were no anthropomorphiZation, there would be no thought to reason with in the first place.

Oh, we may not still believe the moon is made of cheese or martians are indeed green, but who else here has considered the fact that every objective word used has as it's basis some picture in our minds?

Add to this the reality presuppositions play in all linguistic expression (to a greater or lesser extent) and it's no wonder there is soooo much conflict here an earth.

i mean, for example, if everybody thought of the same mental pictures of 'peace' when that word came up. Then, just think of how well everyone would get along and how mundane existence would actually become.

Who here has looked more closely at this noumenal aspect of human interaction?

Even if you have not, your ideas/images would be appreciated with a toast to Prometheus,
and no you will not be chained to a rock nor you liver torn out.

Any thoughts?

Anyone?

Tim Timmy Tim Tim is hereby avoided Ten sPoints for the ashmashing neologillisillillogism Ecstachologicalismology!

I'll comment on the rest as time permits if it does which is highy questionable given the probability that if I were to pursue that now it would hasten the inevitable self-fulfilling prophecy (not to be interpreted literally, of course, unless necessary for your conclusion to fool-ow!) - that I would, indeed, fail to find said time.

But we'll just have to wait and see, won't we?

They help us to visualize the meaning; Right?

" Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves."

ThankZ all!

" Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves."

Unnhunh!
MMMhmm!

And there is this thing where we mistake the imagined for the real.

Reality, what a thought, and the nominalization of the aeon.

Isn't the harmless dove one of thee, if not thee, most territorial bird known? It's beak serves as a defense mechanism for plucking out eyes of territorial invaders who will not scat and then pecking to death.

Serpents are not wise are they? They go to where the heat is, even if it is smoldering lava. They don't travel in a straight line.

When i milked em' for the cash from their venom, i never found one that could carry on a decent conversation (quite unlike my dog).

Maybe the wisdom is in their foul odor?

...or is it that dead eye hypnotic stare?

Personally,
It's thought that Yeshua was injecting a bit of humor at that point in his comissioning.

Whatcha' thimk?
