Hi Richard and all,
My first message didn't seem to be noticed, except by someone who contacted me outside of the forum. I waited to be allowed to start a topic, and I'll begin with one of the first thing I discovered when I started to study the Bible in 1985.

About 25 years ago, I saw that the lifespans of the 26 patriarchs, from Adam to Moses, add up to exactly 12600 years (in the Massoretic Text).
From the list of quite varied ages emerge Sem's 600 years, leaving 12000 years for the 25 other patriarchs, or 25 times 480 years.
600 and 480 are 5 and 4 times 120 years, Moses' lifespan, a model in Jewish tradition.
1-4-5 is a symbolic pattern, essential in the Bible (for example the five books of Pentateuch, from Adam's birth to Moses' death), therefore it seems interesting to find which patriarch's lifespan comes nearest 480 years.
That's Eber with 464 years.
Hebrew names of Sem and Eber, transliterated SM and OBR, have according to traditional gematria the values 340 and 272, 5 and 4 times 68 (value for
Hebrew 'hayim, 'life').
Hebrew names for 'five' and 'four' are HMS and ARBO, from which SM and OBR may be similarly obtained:
H-MS A-RBO > MS RBO > SM OBR
Interesting too that Hebrews come from Eber, and Semites from Sem.
There are actually two forms for each number, HMS and HMSE, ARBO and ARBOE.
Values of HMSE and ARBO are 353 and 273, and the 600 years of Sem multiplied by 273/353 give almost exactly the 464 years of Eber (precisely 464.02...)
Although nothing of this above appears in Jewish exegesis of the Tora, old midrashic comments associate Sem and Eber, supposed to have run together an academy for teaching Tora.

Here is an old table I made with an old printer, and a selfmade word processor:

It doesn't seem to be accepted, so here's the URL:

I had the idea of studying the differences of the lifespans with the nearest multiples of 120, and found
- 12 lifespans over 120 x N, with the differences = + 345
- 12 lifespans under 120 x N, with the differences = - 345
The only problem was with Isaac, living 180 years which might be 120 + 60 as well as 240 - 60, I chose the first one because the two ages around were clearly 120 + X (55 for Abraham and 27 for Jacob).
Anyhow it was quite striking that, starting with Moses' 120 years, I arrived to this double 345, value of MSE.

OK, I leave it now, open to discussion, but my search didn't stop there.

Hey there Remi,

There's something in that link that vBulletin doesn't like. It says that the URL is invalid. But I was able to view the picture and I uploaded it to our site so you can link it using this URL:
