"Take off your shoes, for you are standing on Holy Ground", Ex3:5

We assume that Moses complied with this directive of God and remained barefoot for some unknown period of time. Not until Paul's letter to the Ephesians did we learn about the "NEW SHOES", the preparation of the Gospel. New Shoes!

"Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace", Eph6:14,15

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth". 2Tim2:15 (Bible Study is important!)

"And the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia". Isa20:3

The Christian WALK is emphasized over and over again — walking by faith, walking in love, walking in truth, walking like Enoch walked, walking in the Spirit, and when Jesus walked on the water it highlighted this Bible characteristic in a spectacular way !! Amen? :egad:

The idea of "walking" is a common biblical metaphor for our conduct of life. In Hebrew, the word is "halak" and that's why the Jews refer to the rules of conduct as the Halakah.

But I'm not sure I see the significance of being "barefoot." Paul's use of the "shoe" metaphor makes perfect sense, just like the other metaphors (helmet, shield, etc.). But I don't yet understand what you were trying to get at concerning the idea of "barefoot."

 FOOTWASHING, of course! That's when the "worldly teaching" gets washed away by what the Bible says!
I'm for it, but not something that gets done on a regular basis anywhere I know of.. the last time was in a church in Jamaica, where a pastor and I exchanged the privilege.

I understand feet, footwashing, and shoes, but where does the "barefoot" idea come in? Granted, I need to remove my shoes to wash my feet, but I don't see how that relates to the verses you quoted.

Barefoot is MY way of saying it, (agreeing w Isaiah) knowing some will accuse me of adding or subtracting from the Scripture, when I believe it to be a type of un-confounding the language in these "last days" before the LORD's return. Why isn't there a special name for the top of the foot? ..ha
Connecting the shoes of fabric to the shoes of the preparation of the Gospel, helps me connect Eph6 "armor of God" and why MANY 'christians' have launched out buck-naked into the fray, except for maybe the helmet.
