Look at the people's plea to Rehoboam to make the yoke lighter. Rehoboam asks for 3 days to consult with the elders. But he returns and makes it heavier.

1 Kings 12
4 Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.
5 And he said unto them, Depart yet for three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.
6 And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I may answer this people?

On the other hand Jesus promises to make our yoke lighter ...he dies for our sins bearing the punishments of our sins and after 3 days he is risen from the dead.
We often miss this. This is why we had initially become willing servants to Jesus Christ. The heavy yoke makes us rebellious but the light yoke makes us servants.

Jesus was against the authorities of his time which made the people's yoke heavy. There was King Herod (The Herods were jealously guarding their throne as was Solomon against Jeroboam). There were the Pharisees a school of Jews who added to the laws of God or justified their secret covetous desires such as rabbi desiring more honor than a disciple's parents. The Sadducees made profit from selling sacrificial animals and forbidding the people to bring their own. So Jesus challenged them all just like Jeroboam challenged Rehoboam.

So the saying comes to mind:

Wherever Rehoboam failed Christ fulfilled.
