"The time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years." 1K11:42
"David was 30 years old when he began to reign, and he reigned 40 years" 2Sam5:4
"God gave unto them Saul..a man of the Tribe of Benjamin, by the space of 40 years" Acts13:21
40 - 40 - 40 represented the lifetime of Moses, as well as the reigns of the first 3 kings over ALL Israel (before that kingdom split into the two kingdoms (North/South or Ephraim/Judah). So this is another reason IMO for seeing the pattern of three in so many Biblical examples.
Following the period of the Judges, these three(3) kings reigned over ALL ISRAEL, all of the tribes, for 120 years. :)
40 years each. Then their kingdom divided, with ten tribes going to the North headed up by a "King of Israel", and two of the tribes (Judah & Benjamin) going South under the "King of Judah". Not counting the Levites, apparently. 1K12
BTW, 120 degrees = 1/3 circle - (Could apply to BW somehow?) :thumb:

Good observations. And we see the 120 years in the life of Moses which is structured on the number 40:
At 1 x 40 = 40 years Moses fled Egypt (Acts 7.23, 30)
At 2 x 40 = 80 years Moses returned to rescue Israel (Exodus 7.7)
At 3 x 40 = 120 years Moses died. (Deuteronomy 34.7)
I discuss in my article called The Holographic Decalogue (http://www.biblewheel.com/gr/GR_TenC.asp).
As for 120 degrees = 1/3 of a circle .... that seems a little random because the number of degrees in a circle is an arbitrary unit. Why not use radians? The are more "natural" or "intrinsic" because the are the ratio of two distances and so have no arbitrary unit.

I was taught 3 meant "manifestation in matter."
Mother, Father, Child.
Another 3 are the 3 fourteens in the geneology from Abraham to Christ.

Roger. 3's all over the place, and when you look at the 3 Era's of Infant, Child, Adult, it helps me to understand why the Bible keeps referring to the Hebrews as "Children of Israel/Jacob" -- then Paul in Eph4:14 says "be no more children".
Plus the Spirit, Soul, Body, of 1Thes5:23 -- so WE are a 'Trinity' too! PTL.
Ram, OK with the arbitrary, and understand how "Song of Degrees" (Ps 120-134) may apply to temperature or other, but I've been comfortable believing God knows (and knew then..) about our 360 number.. The 10 degrees that the shadow 'backed-up' for Hezekiah was his SIGN that he'd live another 15 yrs.. but I can't find any added link to the songs.. hmmm?
:-)
