View Full Version : The Female Bias of the Bible
The following were recorded in the Bible which seems to support women than men:
1. Every Jewish male must be circumcised but not the female
2. Man must toil and sweat under the sun but not the women
3. Men is the head of the family but not the women
4. Men fought and died in wars but not women
5. Men were killed and young virgin women were spared
6. Men must observed religious rites, women need not
7. Men who looked lustily at women committed adultery but not the women who looked lustily at men
8. Men must keep their beard, women have no beard to keep
9 The Bible praises Women more than Men
10. Adam was influenced by Eve and ate the forbidden fruit

Interesting post. Let's take a look:
1. Every Jewish male must be circumcised but not the female
I don't think this point works. Circumcision is a mark of status - only men bear the "sign of the covenant" so this actually contradicts your point. And besides, it's a one-time event which simply cannot compare to a lifetime as a subservient woman subject to much abuse and little or no real freedom. It is not for no reason that the Jewish MEN pray each day to thank God that he did not make them "a gentile, a slave, or a woman."
2. Man must toil and sweat under the sun but not the women
That's not true. Look around you. Women are the "mules of the world." Who cleans the houses, raises the kids, cooks the meals, washes clothes, and cleans the toilets? WOMEN do most of the undesirable and "sweaty" labor. We even see this in the Bible, in the classic chapter praising all the work a woman does (Proverbs 31).
3. Men is the head of the family but not the women
Say what? That shows that men have an advantage over women in the Bible. You've got your argument reversed. You are directly contradicting your own point dude! :dizzy:
4. Men fought and died in wars but not women
Woman suffered as the raped and murdered victims of the wars men waged. They suffered the starvation that followed from the destruction of the wars men caused. They suffered to see the meaningless deaths of their sons forced into war by the Israeli theocracy. The whole "war" mentality that has plagued this earth for three thousand years is a social disorder closely aligned with male dominance.
5. Men were killed and young virgin women were spared
And you think that's a good thing? To be "spared" so that you could be condemned for life as the "wife" of the man who murdered your mom, dad, sisters, brothers, and whole community? To be used to BREED more of your enemies? What woman would choose that over death?
6. Men must observed religious rites, women need not
Again, you have got things totally backwards. To be able to participate in the "religious rites" was the highest honor in Hebrew society! The fact that women were excluded showed that they had little value compared to a man.
7. Men who looked lustily at women committed adultery but not the women who looked lustily at men
Not worth answering.
8. Men must keep their beard, women have no beard to keep
Well, I guess that pretty much settles things! The Bible is clearly biased against women ....
9 The Bible praises Women more than Men
Does not.
10. Adam was influenced by Eve and ate the forbidden fruit
Again, you are contradicting your own argument. The fact that the Bible blames women for ALL the evil in the world is the final proof of it's bias against women.

You have misunderstood me again! Have you read the gist of my thread? I am no male chauvinist. The gist of my thread is:

My view of God is that He is fair towards male and female. He punishes both male and female and He will forgive and save both male and female just like He gives rain and sunshine to both the wicked and the good. Therefore to say that God sided one side more than the other is blasphemy. This had been the view of almost all commentators that God is fair to both males and females.
May the Peace and Wisdom of God be with everyone, Amen .

I didn't say you were a male chauvinist.
Why did you ignore all my answers? It means nothing to merely assert that I "misunderstood" you without specifying how or quoting anything I wrote. It would help if you actually read and responded to what I wrote, like I responded to the points you wrote.

Oh, come on Cheow....:hysterical: this has to be about the most ridiculous post I've ever read. :p
Did you ever stop and think that every one of those statements you posed was written and implemented by MEN (male)...or have you forgotten my main point as to why I don't believe the Bible is the word of God.
THE BIBLE WAS WRITTEN BY MEN (MALE). So, you have men to thank and not women for all those crazy rules.
All the Best,
Rose

Unfortunately, Rose and RAM were not born during Moses and Paul's time if not they would have fought with all their hearts and souls for the freedom of women. They would have become the champions of Women's Lib. Funny, why didn't those women protested in those days against the supposed men's bias and why didn't they fight for their freedom? Were they so naive as to subject themselves to the dominance of men?
There are many passages in the OT in which the rules doesn't benefit men but women, why would biased men wrote the rules in the OT to hurt themselves? For example, in Deuteronomy, if a man rapes a woman, he was to have her for life whether the man like it or not and no divorce can be granted. In other words, the man must live with her for life even if the woman he raped was irritating, nagging, evil and he must continue to provide for her emotionally, financially and physically.
I believe the supposed men's bias the the BIble is just a misinterpretation. God cannot be biased. God made Eve to be a helper for Adam so that both worked together for the glory and purpose of God. To have favoritism on one side is to God's disadvantage.
Jesus referred to the passages in the OT "written by men" and even praised Moses, Isaiah etc. Was Jesus biased against women also? Even if the Bible was written by Men, it was endorsed by God!
Believe in the Lord, Praise God daily.

Oh come on Cheow! The more you talk the more you sound like a little kid who has to say the opposite on everything...:p
Of course the Bible is biased towards men! Only a foolish person would say differently...but, you are right in saying that God cannot be biased, :thumb: which is precisely why I say the Bible was written from the minds of men who fashioned a god after their own likeness.
No, Jesus was not biased! He promoted equality of men and women, which is one of the reasons he was killed.
All the Best,
Rose

Come on Rose, the more you talk, the more you sounds like an atheist. Why can't you say good things about the bible and God. No christian will say bad things about the bible or about god. You either love god or hate god. If you love god you will say good things about God.
The bible is neither biased towards men or towards women. And that is the gist of my thread. I can show you at least 100 passages that God is not biased against men or women. As I said why would men want to hurt himself if the bible was written by men. If I am a man who wrote the bible and I am biased against women, I would wrote that god said to kill all women but save all the young men.
God is great. Alleluia.
