Biblical Cryptogram..I stumbled across this while studying the father-to-son generations and to say I was amazed and excited is to put it mildly.
:yo:
At the time I already was persuaded about the 66 books of the Bible, based partly on how the first 39 and second 27 agreed with the Book of Isaiah. Also, seemed to me that having Mary's husband in the genealogy of Jesus was a huge mistake -- I thought it more likely the Joseph there was the FATHER of Mary -- and that her husband's genealogy was that in Luke chapt. 3.
Further along, I became aware of how the first Ten generations (from Adam to Noah; Gen5) were followed by two more lists of "ten", in 1Chr1:24-27 and in Ruth4:16 -- making Abraham #20 and David #33 when the three 'skipped' generations lead off the names in Ruth. Learning of David being #33 reminded me of his thirty and three 'mighty men, and how it was said of him several times that he "reigned 7 yrs. in Hebron and 33 years in Jerusalem".
A stumbling block is found in Jer22 considering the son of Jehoiakim#50. This son has three names: Jehoiachin, Jeconiah, and Coniah, and because of the Scofield Bible-notes is usually considered NOT to be in the pedigree of Jesus -- however, the KJV lists a son "Assir" for him in 1Chr3:17 (transliterated as 'captive' by the NIV), and he would be the final King of Judah in the pedigree. The King at the end was Zedekiah--a brother of Jehoiachin but he's outside the pedigree of Christ (as Ham and Japheth were outside the Godly Line of Shem).
This kind of study leads to many confusing names and I had long been aware of how those first Ten Generations had included two copy-cat names (Enoch & Lamech), and how the verse in Jude 14 had I.D. Enoch as the 7th but not as Enoch-II or Enoch-2. I considered this curious and wondered "why not?". It led me to look at the long list of names in the pedigree and note that none of the names were the same EXCEPT FOR THE NAME OF JACOB! ..and the second Jacob was #63. :peep:
Thus the cryptogram: Enoch-II (7th gen.) and Lamech-II (9th gen.) lead us from Genesis to Matthew where Jacob-II is the 63rd generation.
**In the interest of brevity, I've purposely left out other details which support the conclusion, so ask away if you're still wondering. 2K24:8 claims Jehoiachin was 18 when he began to reign, and 2Chr36:9 says he was 'only 8' -- maybe we're being 'tested' concerning our faith?
