I have been told that experience of unity with God is something that develops through the practice of prayer and meditation on a regular basis over a long time.

Has anyone had success with meditation?

After spending much time looking at historical and biological evidences for the existence of a Creator, I feel strangely lacking in the practical side of spiritual experience.

For sure, the awareness that there is a Creator has given me a greater acceptance of life, and a deeper facination with nature, and I feel a contentment and enjoyment in simple existence without owning much in the way of possessions. Simply contemplating the patterns in nature has led to feelings of bliss - the ordered patterns suggesting a marvellous intelligence is the source. This often creates a sense of awe and wonder, and my study of these patterns seems important so it gives me a strong sense of purpose.

However, I feel that my spiritual life is too abstract. I wish I was able to experience the presence of God more directly.

Hi Craig,

I'm not sure if people can experience God in a more "direct" way through meditation, but one thing I know for sure is that meditation....that is the quieting of the mind, leads to a much deeper connection with your own "spirituality" and in turn produces a sense of unity and sharing with the world community.

The practice of "soul searching" through meditation is a wonderful way to really get in-touch with who you are, and that leads to experiencing the presence of God in a more personal way.

Blessings,
Rose

Meditation cannot fail. Of course a lot depends on what you mean by meditation. To me meditation means to ponder , think ,ruminate, consider, contemplate or judge. Results are inevitable. .

By meditation I mean the technique of quieting the mind.
