Texe Marrs (http://texemarrs.com/) gave a good explanation on the meaning of a covenant in his weekend broadcast: Secrets (Volume 174) (http://www.texemarrs.com/make.m3u)
It's like a contract. If you have a contract for a car but can't pay it off your contract is canceled and your car will be taken back. The same applies for the Old Covenant that the Jews disobeyed. It is canceled as Hebrews 8 says and God made a new covenant. So for those who think the Old Covenant is still of use...think again.

We are back to square one . Why is it that people who seek to live in the Kingdom of God are so fiercely opposed to the laws of God. The excuse ; 'We are under a new covenant now ,' does not wash. What is the new covenant. ? ' If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that god has raised him from the dead then you will be saved , for with the heart man believes unto righteousness' What is righteousness if it is not submission to the law of God. Where is the law of God found ? . In the Torah. Which one of the ten commandments is not applicable today? .Did God issue the food laws on a whim or were they designed for the well-being of the people in this world? What is right and what is wrong?. What is good and what is bad?. Where are the boundaries. And what are the limits. If the trumpet gives off an uncertain sound then no one knows to prepare for war. If the rules of engagement are not known then confusion is rife.Life cannot be lived without law . A game cannot be played without rules. No man can repent unless he is ashamed . No man is ashamed unless he is convinced that what he has done is wrong .. By what standard do we measure ?. The only standard possible is the law recorded in the old testament. I can find no one who agrees with these sentiments. I seem to stand alone.

The Mosaic Covenant Marriage Contract by eithere party could not default and walk away because of 'Non-payment'. The had a Fulfillment clause and was always known by both parties to have 'an End'. YHWH could not break the Marriage Contract, He could only Fulfill it, to it's fullest. How did this Fulfillment come about? His wife murdered 'Him', ie. Jesus Christ as the Testator was the One who made the Mosaic marriage Contract. Nothing was 'taken back' (as repossesed) but it was Fulfilled as in Redeemed in Judgement by The Law. Some Redeemed to Death and some Redeemed to Life. The Harlot Wife could never 'pay it off' by works, but Messiah could in Death and Resurrection and as Judge, in Judgement of it and those Married to it.

We ARE under a new covenant. The entire book of Hebrews seems to cover the subject of the Old and New Covenants/Testaments.
Jesus greater than Moses, Abraham, Joshua, the angels;
The Melchizedekian priesthood vs the Aaronic (Levitical) priesthood. Levi payed tithed while being part of Abram to Melkizedek.
The old Covenant being a shadow.
The destruction of the temple occurred twice showing that God has rejected their services and sacrifices.

Of course we are under a new covenant . My question was and is , What is sin and what constitutes righteousness. It is no use falling back on the old chestnut "believing in him who sent me". I believe in father chrismas, fairies and U.F.O's but that does not make me right or wrong. Where does melchizedec come into it?. Moses gave a tenth of the spoils of war to the King of peace!. So?.

I'm not a 100% percent sure but the covenants are worth studying it out.
What exactly was the agreement/covenant in the Old Testament and what is it in the New Testament.
Isaac and Ishmael were allegorical to the 2 covenants.
But Sodom and Gomorrah who weren't under any covenants were destroyed without warning.
