I'm just reporting that a couple of days ago I'm been having problems with logging out (it gives errors) but then at times it does log off I then follow the link back to the forums index page it has me logged in saying last time as yesterday @ 4:20 with old post.

I've manually cleared all cookies and saved passwords, that in itself should have solved the problem, but it still comes up.

Any thougths,

Edit; In addition when I'm logged in at the correct time and day then click on the bible wheel forum index it shows the date as yesterday @ 4:20. But then again if I click on my bookmark it gives the last time I logged in (not yesterday @4:20)

Hi Beck,

Those are strange symptoms. I have not seen those problems before. What browser are you using?

And what happens if you hit the refresh (F5) when the date looks wrong?

Richard

IE 8 and when refresh it remains with the wrong date always "yesterday @ 4:20

It may have something to do with when I logged on with the wrong date and time, because I had unplugged my power supply and the battery is dead it reset the defaults after I noticed it is when with problem started to occur. But then again clearing the cookies should have solved it. What ever it is it's only on the index page the other subpages don't have this issue.

Still having this issue, today I logged out which said cleared cookies, I then manually clear all cookies, passwords and closed browser and booted down the computer. On loading the forum site it still haved me logged on. I then clinked on the User Cp it asked me to log in. What's up with that? It seem only on this site all other sites I'm logged off.

I also notice that the main forum site I'm logged on and says last visit was today @10:53 but on the sub-forums it has me logged on with last visit yesterday @ 7:50. There are a number of post that are not being shown. And while in that sub-forum if I try to log out it gives an error. Underable to log out on that subforum and clear those cookies.

Hey there Beck,

Those are some strange anomalies. I'm not sure how to diagnose them.

Re: When you cleared your cookies and loaded the site - It would be interesting to know what happens when you refresh the page. I would guess it might prompt you to log in at that point.

Re: Time stamp and subforums - That's a mystery! I suspect it will take a bit of sleuthing for me to find the cause. It sounds like an obscure bug in the software.

Re: Posts not being shown - Is this only in the list shown when you search for new posts, or are the posts themselves missing when you view the thread?

Here are some pictures that may help. This first one is after I closed the browser and typed 'inetcpl.cpl" in the run command, and deleted the history and cookies also checked manually it verify that everything was deleted.

Upon entering the site...

While not logged on attemped to view the subforum threads and got this page with the time stamp and logged on status.

Now attemping to log out..even though I'm not logged on that is why the error is caused.

And after attemping to log out this error game up, even after clicking the link that would aid in logging out and with it reporting that all cookies have been deleted upon going back to the subforum I'm still logged on.

I've had that happen on other forums. I've also had my browser freeze in the middle of writing a very long post, and there is no way to save what I typed. I now am in the habit of hitting <control>-a to select all, and then <control>-c to copy it. And if I'm really paranoid, I'll open notepad and drop everything in their with <control>-v and save it. It only takes a second to save your work and it will save you from much frustration.

Fascinating error. Thanks for the detailed info. It is very helpful. It seems like it must be an error in the software since it happens when you view the subforum. I've begun searching for an answer, but it might take a while.

Update, Richard all seem fine now. I've done nothing to correct the problem, so did you fine something? Thanks

Nope. I didn't find the source of the problem. But Microsoft is constantly doing updates, so for all we know, it was their fault.

Thanks for letting me know.
