Luke 1:5
THERE was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.

Zacharias means Remembered by GOD or GOD will remember.
Elisabeth means God's oath.
When Zacharias prayed he mentioned what God did:

Luke 1
68Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,
72To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;
73The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,

So joining Zacharias and Elisabeth brought this to pass.

Wow, Gilgal! That's incredible....God remembered His people (Zecharias) and brought His oath to pass through Elisabeth by the birth of John the Baptist, and the message is contained in their names!

Tremendous insight. The names of the characters of in the story cohere with the theme of the story!

Also, I love your observation that the prophecy was fulfilled by the union of Zacharias and Elisabeth.

Was this an original insight or did you learn it from another?

I think I had posted this before. But when I searched I didn't find it. It was originally mentioned in Arnold Fruchtenbaum's audio message.
You can download his entire message in about 20 parts:

I also had posted long ago on Messianic Prophecies (http://www.facebook.com/posted.php?id=10057194932&start=50) if you wish to comment.

And we don't want to forget that the union of Zacharias (God remembers) and Elisabeth (God's Oath) was none other than John (God's Grace)!

Zacharias (God remembers)
Elisabeth (God's Oath)
John (God's Grace)
Jesus Christ (God's Salvation, the Messiah)

In English: God Remembered His Oath and by His Grace gave His Salvation in the Messiah.

Did he mention that in his prayer?
