View Full Version : Someone Else’s Mail

There seems to be a common thing that a lot of folks forget when they are studying the Bible, and that is: 'they are reading someone else’s mail!' Now that does not mean there aren’t many truths in Scripture that apply to peoples of all times….like for example: when the Bible says that the Son of God became man so that all who believe in Him might have eternal life, well that applies to everyone. But, on the other hand when Peter is speaking to his 1st century contemporaries on the day of Pentecost, and he tells them that what they are seeing is the fulfillment of the prophecies of Joel….well that specifically applies to those he was speaking to, it’s not about us today.

I think a lot of the confusion over future fulfillment of prophesies would be cleared up if people would bear in mind when reading Scripture that many of those words had a specific applications to the people they were addressed to.

It seems altogether presumptuous to read someone else’s mail and declare that it was written about us. Now, on the other hand the many truths contained in the Bible are most definitely to be used for teaching, instruction in righteousness, and correction….all the Words of the Bible have been inspired by God to be written, but that does not mean each and every word that was written applies to everyone of us at all times.

The Bible is full of Stories, Proverbs, Prophesies, and Historical examples that have been recorded for our understanding, and admonition, which we gain knowledge from….we, are not to apply those words as being written about us. I think a good rule of thumb is: if it’s addressed to someone else, and is specifically speaking to or about someone else, then those words probably at least have a first application to someone else.

Hi Rose,

There are many books in the Bible, Genesis, the Gospels etc. except for Luke which are not address to anyone, are we to supposed that they were addressed only to their contemporaries?....or were these books for all generations to come? I think they were addressed to all generations to come because these are an unaddressed mail for everyone to read. Of are we to suppose that whatever written in the Gospel of Luke have no implications for us as it was addressed to Theophilus? Even if these were addressed mails, why put up for everyone throughout the generations to read? Might as well delete from the Canon. These addressed book were put up because God wants everyone throughout the generations to read them, reflect on them and may have some implications for their generation.

Therefore, to me, whether the books in the Bible is addressed or not applies to everybody throughout the generations.

Many Blessings.

Hi Cheow,

If you will note in my post....I was very careful to include all of your objections. Answers from my post in green.

1.There are many books in the Bible, Genesis, the Gospels etc. except for Luke which are not address to anyone, are we to supposed that they were addressed only to their contemporaries? The Bible is full of Stories, Proverbs, Prophesies, and Historical examples that have been recorded for our understanding, and admonition, which we gain knowledge from….we, are not to apply those words as being written about us.

2. Are we to suppose that whatever written in the Gospel of Luke have no implications for us as it was addressed to Theophilus? 3.Therefore, to me, whether the books in the Bible is addressed or not applies to everybody throughout the generations. The truths that the Bible contains do apply to everyone, but the specifics it contains when addressed to individuals must be understood as such. That is where so much of the confusion concerning fulfilled prophecy comes in; words of prophecy spoken to individuals in a specific time period are taken and applied to those in the future whom it was never intended for.

As this website shows Biblical structures, you may like to start more thinking in this way too. Because the structures written in the Bible we can see in our bodies. Also in non-believer’s bodies and people from other religions’ bodies. We all have the structures.

You maybe not have knowledge of these structures, that’s why I have written something about it here http://www.biblewheel.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1583 When you think in this scientific field, the Bible stories concern us all, connect to us all.

Like the 3 ½ in Daniël 12:7:
Our tooth - where we start the process of food processing with – are called shen in hebrew what is written as 300-50 and is also 350. This 350 prepares our food for the rest of the way, everything must pass the 350. The years we have to pass are called shanah 300-50-5 where the heh, the 5, is the feminine addition. So also in our time to pass is this 350 present.

Maybe you think hey, the woman does not count. But when the woman starts counting she says: Shanah, year, 300-50-5 = 355, and 355 are the days of a moon-year. I am connected to the moon with my monthly (moonthly) periods! Eat this! Today, as it is full moon, I like to tell you this. pfft, men only think about connecting with the moon with their rockets.

Then we say this is truly amazing, woman! Then she says yeah, you are right.

That's very interesting! It's something I had never thought of before, but just as the woman brings forth life from her body....she is connected to the rhythm of life by the cycles that control her body; making a very strong communion with the whole system God has set in order.

Thank you for sharing that...:signthankspin:

...and 355 are the days of a moon-year (what a coïncidence). And the moon connects with the sea, forms the tides, and the woman w(b)eares a child in her fruit-water (amniotic?). From ancient times it is known that the woman connects with water and moon.

Have you made your Biblical moon-calendar yet Joel?

No, I need instruction.

Also, please forward in tact the response to number 153 as I have lost it in the maze of texts. Thanks, Joel

For that purpose is a 'search through the forum' possibility. There you can find someone else's mail. Success.
