TruthSeeker ask this question (http://biblewheel.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1565) on another thread, which led me to write this post on the Parousia of Christ.
Since there is no Biblical account of AD70, I can only draw my own understanding from Scripture of what those who heard the Words of Jesus were expecting the Parousia of Christto be like.
.
Matt.24:27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming (parousia) of the Son of man be.
.
From Gospel of Luke we are told that when the Parousia happens those who see the Son of Man are to look up for then will be their redemption.
.
Luke 21:27-28 And then shall they see (optanomai) the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
.
John tells us in his epistle, that when the Parousia happens he expects to see Jesus as He is, and to be like Him.
.
1John 2:28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming (parousia).
1John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see (optanomai) him as he is.
.
.
When the veil was torn at the cross, it still visually remained as a witness of what Jesus accomplished on the cross, and as long as the Temple stood the visual remnants of the veil remained, obscuring the true image of Christ. It wasn't until the veil was completely removed forever (AD70) that Christ could be fully seen by those who were waiting for His Parousia. I think that is the redemption believers experienced at the Parousia of Christ; it was like cataracts being removed from their eyes....no more did they see through a glass darkly, for now the shadow of death was forever removed and the glory of Christ could fully be seen.
