Exodus 15:3 The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.

When Christians are persecuted for their belief and it seems like God is doing nothing about it, we are actually winning the war. I love this excerpt from Fox's Book of Martyrs.

At the martyrdom of Faustines and Jovita, brothers and citizens of Brescia, their torments were so many, and their patience so great, that Calocerius, a pagan, beholding them, was struck with admiration, and exclaimed in a kind of ecstasy, "Great is the God of the Christians!" for which he was apprehended, and suffered a similar fate. - Fox's Book of Martyrs, Chapter 1, The Third Persecution

I think it was in 1 Peter that he mentions that when we persecuted for doing the right thing we are blessed. But often we chicken out doing the right thing and choose to stay neutral.

There's a talk show host by the name of Alex Jones. He's a Christian who talks about corruption in politics. One caller rebuked him for doing this by quoting him 1 Peter. Alex clarified that it's by doing the right thing that we are blessed when persecuted.

"For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and suffer {for it} you patiently endure it, this {finds} favor with God. "1 Peter 2:20

I love this verse! When I feel I am being mistreated (at work for example), I try to be patient. I recall when I had interviewed for a new job and somebody else got the job, the very next day I was asked to attened a meeting and give of my expertiese in a subject area - the very subject area that was the primary function of the job I didn't get. I went, contributed to the meeting anyway. The next day the big boss said how much she admired me for doing that in the face of just having been turned down for a promotion. I explained and quoted 1 Peter 2:20. The situation allowed me to be a positive witness to her.
