2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come], except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
2Th 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
Could it be so clear that "man of sin" and 'son of perdition; are not referring to a futuristic individual man, but referring to groups of men. The 'man of sin' would be revealed as those not declared and walking in righteousness that is by faith. With regard to 'son of perdition'; those who fellowshiped with the disciples and then betrayed them to the Romans or Jews.
Those would have been 'taken' during the various battles of the Romans/Israel??.
2 Th 31:27. Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.
The 'house and descendants of Judah and Israel had been sewn with the similar spirit (seed) of men and beast; the 'seed' of men would be contrasted against the seed of God. It would be that inclination to rule over and be served by other men in several ways; among them spiritual oppression through untruth, finance, and political dominion.
In Matt 24:37-42 there is a separating of those who worked or lived together. Those who returned loyalty to the Sanhedrein or the PHarisess and other sects would have left the christian group during the last times when they were likely called to fight with the Jews. Possiby in the Roman empire also their may have been some seperation between peoples who killed the christians and those who were effected by it; and similar "revealing" of the inner nature; weather it had been renewed or weather it had remained 'evil' or unregenerate.
There are some concepts of sitting in the temple of God which I have heard were fulfilled by leaders of the sects/groups or even by Nero or Gauis himself.
