View Full Version : Will we use money in heaven?
Will we use money in heaven? The answer is NO. The following verses confirm the answer:
Isaiah 55:
1"Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
Revelation 21:
6He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.
Matthew 6:
19"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:
24"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.
1Timothy 6:
6But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 11But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness..........17Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
Matthew 19:
21Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
22When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.
23Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
Acts 8:
20Peter answered: "May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money!
Isaiah 52:
3For this is what the LORD says: "You were sold for nothing, and without money you will be redeemed."
How nice if we live in a world without use of money. There will be no distinction between rich and poor. Because there is no money, there is no cost, we will all be living like billioniares; possess and drive cars without cost, buy houses without cost, tour round the world without cost, buy gold without cost, no robbery etc, get everything without cost!
Many Blessings to all.

Hi Cheow!
Very interesting question. You are very good at starting conversations.
I agree that answer is "no" - but I don't think we can use Isaiah 55 to prove it. Isaiah 55 is not talking about a literal economy - it is using money as a metaphor to communicate the Gospel message of God's grace. It doesn't make any sense to me to take it literally.
Revelation 21:
6He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.
Again, this verse is using "cost" as a metaphor. No reason to think he is talking about literal money any more than we should think he is talking about literal water.
These passages are talking about literal money and other earthly valuables. But they don't say anything about "money in heaven." They show how love of money is just part of the carnal mind that loves (and knows) only earthly things.
Yes indeed, that will be a wonderful way to live. But actually, most of us live like "billionaires" here in America right now. Sure, we need to trade little bits of paper or invisible computer bits to get what we need or want, but that's nothing in comparison with the overflowing abundance of food and stuff that we get in return. The average person in America lives better than any king in history.
Great chatting,
Richard
HI RAM,
Isaiah 55:
1"Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
There are two sides in a coin, I take it literally. What I am driving at in this verse is the curious sentence, "Buy....without money and without cost. How is a person to buy things without money and without cost? Thinking out of the box 3 decades ago, I came to the conclusion that it is talking about a world economy that do not use money. Currently, the world system is based on money; the richer you are, the better and money is power. But in the next world that is to come (I know you do not believe in the next literal world to come, but just bear with me for a while), it will be based on a non-monetary world economy, a world in which altruistic love is power. Isn't this what the Lord teaches, "To love one another, just as I have loved you".
Going further, in a non-monetary world economy, without use of money, cost is non-existent, value has no meaning; poor and rich has no meaning; buy and sell is non-existent. You can do anything, get anything without money and without cost! I understand it can be quite difficult for some people to imagine. But just imagine a world in which everyone works for free; build mansions free, provide food free etc., we will all be living like billionaires beyond our dreams. Having lots of money then would not make any sense at all because nobody use money. And since there is no use of money, it is impossible to put a monetary value into something such as gold and property etc. Since there is no use of money, there is no robbery, no scam, no gambling, no poverty etc, people will be living in real world peace, happiness and harmony.
Currently, the world is not ready for a non-monetary economy, evil and greed needs to be got rid of; a 'upper hand" needs to put all things in order; people needs to change their mindset and based it on non-monetary lifestyle.
Many Blessings to all.
Hi,
Since love of money is the cause of all evil, the prudent thing is to reduce the evil by removing money. By removing the use of money, 50% of the battle is won. The equation is very simple:
People + Money = Love of Money
By removing Money, we have:
People = Love of i.e Love of People.
Many Blessings.

Hi CWH, I agree with you that we will not use money in "heaven." Actually, I prefer the phrase "world to come," that is the Jewish mindset and I do believe in a "new world," in the sense that this earth will be made "new" at the redemption of all things including the cosmos.
But the proof texts you use, IMO, do not support the theory of "no money in heaven."
Economics is my hobby and in another life I would have been an economist. Before I lost my job because of this recession, I used to study the economy at least an hour everyday. I knew the dates of all data coming out and the projections as well as how it would affect my industry.
That being said, I'm not an expert, but I have studied the subject.
You rightly point out about the "greed" ect. that is in our economy. To properly understand the ecomomy you must understand that it is based on scarcity! There is a lack of goods and services. Haircuts are $20 because there are not enough barbers. Wedding cakes are $200 or more because there are not enough bakers. Suites cost $500 because there are not enough tailors. Diamonds are expensive because one company controls the market and forces a scarcity by not allowing production. It is theorized that the oil companies are making billions because they shut down production in the US, the real price of a gallon should be about $1.10. So because of scarcity, and the curse of Adam to "work by the sweat of his brow" economies all over the world are caught in the same trap.
However, it will not be so in the Kingdom. It is based on abundance. There will be abundance of everything, cost is not necessary when everyone has everything they need. We can see an example in the product of salt. There was a time in history it served as money, it was so scarce. But today, it is almost free, only the cost of packaging and shipping has to be paid for, there is an abundance of salt!
Hi HaShaliac,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I understand about cost and its relation with the economics of supply and demand. I do understand that with abundance cost will fall. I know that in the world to come there will be abundance in everything but not money. That is why I want people to focus more than just abundance but a lifestyle in a world that do not use money at all.
I am quiet interested in your thoughts on this verse:
Isaiah 55:
1"Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
How to buy something without money and without cost? What's your view?
It seems obvious to me that this verse refers to a non-monetary economy. I do understand that some people have difficulty imagining such a world that do not use money at all because we are so used to using money. Just an example, suppose there are only 2 countries in this world, Japan and USA. Japan will produce electronic goods, cars and every manufactured goods and export free to the US and in return US will provide all the raw materials, iron ,oil etc. including food and export to Japan free. In this way, everything that we get from Japan and US is free. Cost and Money then would not have a place in this world. They are totally meaningless in a world that do not use money. So are many of the greed and evil we see in this world. All of us will then be living in a world of luxury, peace and harmony beyond our wildest imaginations.
Is the world ready for that? Can a totally non-monetary world be achieved? No, not by human means but through God. We need God to put all things in order by getting rid of greed and evil and instill righteousness and brotherly love in the hearts of people so that a non-monetary world economy can function effectively.
Many Blessings to all.

Will we have money in heaven? . No ! . We would only lose it anyway . We will have no pockets to put it in. Money has no value of itself. If you offer a sheet of used toilet paper in a transanction , no one will accept it . If on the other hand you offer a well used piece of paper called currency , whether it be Dollar Yen ,Lira or pound ,it will be readilly accepted. The only difference is: The confidence that people have in it. Confidence is another name for faith. I have in front of me a small coin. I think that it is Turkish . Its value is 100,000 Lira. It might buy you a cup of coffee. If it was 100,000 U.S dollars it might buy you a house. The unseen things are more real than the things that are seen. Look at it this way If you have a lead washer it is worthless. If you have a disc of gold the same size and weight, it has value. The only difference is FAITH. Why can't we invest this currency ( I mean faith) In our spiritual life ? Then we can be really rich.
P.S Thanks for starting this one Wee . Many blessings to you
Alec
Thanks alec,
Yes, I agree with you, money can't buy faith. Faith must then comes from the inner self. There is nothing better than to look at the 12 apostles as they drove out demons, raised the dead and healed the sick. They would have earned millions in today's currency value by driving out demons, raise the dead and healing the sick but they were not paid nor received payment, it was faith and love that motivated them. This is also an example of what a non-monetary world lifestyle is like: "You received without paying, so give without being paid" (Matthew 10:8 Today's English Version). They worked not for money but motivated by faith, compassion and love of God. They were confident in the trust that they will be rewarded in heaven; their rewards are worthless:
Matthew 10:1He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil[a] spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.
2These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; 3Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
5These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: "Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. 6Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. 7As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.' 8Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. 9Do not take along any gold or silver or copper in your belts; 10take no bag for the journey, or extra tunic, or sandals or a staff; for the worker is worth his keep.
Many Blessings and Happy New Year to you.:yo:

Money is Evil = 888 (Hebrew) & 148 A-Z "THE KEY"
Hey VG,
What is the Hebrew of the phrase "Money is Evil" that you used for the calculation?
And what do these identities mean? Anything? If not, how do they help us answer the question of the OP?

If there is no 'Identity' in the english language, then I have none.
If there is 'meaning' in nothing; then, looking for 'understanding' is the same for some, but different for others.
My answer is obvious: We will always need money
I still don't know how you calculated Money is Evil = 888. What is the Hebrew phrase you used?
And how does your "obvious" answer follow from the equation?

I use the Antichrist Calculator. I typed it as is
Do you want the link, RAM?
I used Google and found http://antichristcalculator.com/. Looking at the results, I presume that is the site you are talking about.
But the results are MEANINGLESS RANDOM JUNK. Why do you post them? They mean nothing. They add nothing to the conversation.
What's more, the stuff you posted is not even accurate. You wrote "Money is Evil = 888 (Hebrew)" but it has nothing to do with Hebrew! That value is derived by adding the English letters using the values a = 6, b = 12, etc.
I do not want this forum to be the place for meaningless random junk. If you have something meaningful to say, then please say it. Don't post meaningless stuff. It drives away thoughtful people and is contrary to the purpose of this forum.
Thanks!

During the current eon, as an age among other ages, money, and the love of it.............the desire to have it,........and to hold it,.........and, to use it as a source of obtaining the desires of the flesh........is......obviously, the cause of great evil. Of that, there is no doubt.
In the impending eons (ages), Christ will put all things "under His feet". All things (including money, and monetary systems) will become subject to Him. At present, we do not see it as such. But, that is what will occur in the future, as He gains the rule over all that is ruling, that which is of the flesh and not of the spirit.
We cannot discern from scripture (as far as I can tell) as to when Christ Jesus' rule will eclipse the power that money has on the system, but, it will happen. And, as Choew has pointed out, money will lose it's rule over humanity.........this is all in line with God's purpose.
There will come a time when all rule, including the rule of money, will be made subject to Christ........all rule, and authority, and power will be made subject to Him. And........then........will come the consummation.....when He will give back the Kingdom unto the Father, the goal of His purpose and plan.

Hi Joel,
It's been a while. Always enjoy reading your thoughts.
If all rule, and authority, and power is not subject to Him now, in your futurist view, over what is He currently King. Has Dan 7:13,14 taken place yet in your view?
7:13 " I was watching in the night visions, And behold, [One] like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him. 14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion [is] an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom [the one] Which shall not be destroyed.
Peace to you Joel,

We who have posted here for some time have remained respectful, and kind to each other in spite of our different views on certain matters. It speaks highly of the "rule" and "authority" that governs here.
We all agree that Jesus is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. We all agree that He has overthrown the rule of both sin and death.
What I seek is to understand is the out working of His victory in the course of human history.
The people of Israel were held captive by a foreign government during the time of Daniel's visions. When we turn from that historic period to our present day, we see that the peoples of the world are still held captive by both sin and death, and yet the Lord has gained victory over both.
What appears to exist is a lack of knowledge concerning His victory which means, in my opinion, that the rule of sin and death continues even though it is a rule now that is obviously unlawful, as if rogue despots continue to rule and will continue as long as allowed by the God of all things, our Father, Who will, through His Christ, overcome all insubjection by the unfailing power of His love.
Love rules when we love each other, and, love others as ourselves, and.....even love our enemies as the Father loved us, His enemies, by sending His only Son to face death in behalf of all. By the looks of things going on in this present world (aion), we still have a long way to go. Rather than getting bogged down as to when this will turn.......why don't we just walk in His victory now, and let Him love through us?
When Jesus puts all rule under His feet.......which He has done in Himself, but, it still remains to be realized in us......He will then turn the Kingdom over to the Father. O Happy Day!
Joel

Excellent joel,
You have said it excellently. It's nothing wrong to have money but the love of money is the main issue. The more you love money, the more you desire it and the more it will lead you to evil. Do not let money rule you. Do not make money your idol. In God we trust and but not in this God we trust, it's behind your dollar note:

Thanks for that Richard. For some time now I have wondered why such atrocious junk was allowed . I recognise the spirit which restrains the hand of censorship. Hi Alec,
Thanks for the support. Yes, I have held to a very "open forum" policy in hopes of encouraging discussion, but some folks go way over the line posting meaningless junk. When I tried to reason with VolnGharst he quit and asked that I delete all his posts which I was more than happy to do. I was thinking of doing it anyway so I was very glad he requested it.
I am going to be more careful in the future to nip meaningless poppycock in the bud. Otherwise this forum will begin to look (and smell) like a public restroom covered with graffiti. There is no reason to allow that.
All the best,

Right. That is one of the things that separates this forum from many others, and why I enjoy "talking" to all of you here.
..... we see that the peoples of the world are still held captive by both sin and death, and yet the Lord has gained victory over both.
Is it possible that you are only looking at things from an earthly perspective? No doubt, people still die, and sin still exists (although Scripture never says sin will ever be non-existant - just the EFFECT of sin has been rendered powerless by Christ's death and resurrection).
Are people still held captive by sin and death AFTER they physically die? No.
But they were before Christ's death and resurrection. So, from God's perspective (the only one that counts), things are very different for the "peoples of the world".
Paul declared: "O Death, where [is] your sting? O Hades, where [is] your victory".
Dave
Are people still held captive by sin and death AFTER they physically die? No.
Dave, can you clarify this for me?
Sin has its expression while we are alive in these bodies of flesh. So I don't disagree with you that upon entering the death state sin has no more expression as regards to those who have physically died.
But upon physical death, is it your view that we immediately are transferred to "life"? please explain, thanks, Joel

I believe Heb 8 and 9 (and other Scripture which I can't quote off the top of my head) say the first covenant's imperfect animal sacrifices only covered sin and therefore were insufficient to atone for our sin and kept man from being in God's presence. Under the second or new covenant, the effect of sin (separation from God when we physically die) is gone for all believers - Jew or Gentile:
Heb 8:12 "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more."
Heb 9:15 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
23 Therefore [it was] necessary that the copies of the things in the heavens should be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
26 .....but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.
Wish I could post more right now......gotta run.
Will we use money in heaven? The answer is NO. The following verses confirm the answer:
Isaiah 55:
1"Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
I am revisiting this topic again. No money means no cost. But how can one buy something without money and wothout cost? What is cost?
Isaiah 55:
1"Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
[B] without money and without cost.
Cost is:
An amount that has to be paid or given up in order to get something.
In business, cost is usually a monetary valuation of (1) effort, (2) material, (3) resources, (4) time and utilities consumed, (5) risks incurred, and (6) opportunity forgone in production and delivery of a good or service. All expenses are costs, but not all costs (such as those incurred in acquisition of an income-generating asset) are expenses.
In normal buy and sell, there is exchange of literal money for goods and there is cost involved.
In barter trading, there is no money involved but there is a cost as something must be given up to obtain something back. Of course, there is a consideration of worth or value; a prudent person will not barter his house for a meal.
In credit card trading, no literal money is involved only electronic transactions of money for the goods, there is also cost involved. And of course, there must be money stored in the bank for the credit card transaction.
Then how can one buy something without money and without cost?......No monetary economy of course!...because non use of money means no cost. Well, food for thought......
Many Blessings.
I would like the readers to focus on Matthew19:
28 Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife[e] or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.
Jesus seems to tell us that those who are worthy to go into the kingdom of heaven we will have eternal life and will have a hundred fold of whatever we possessed and gave up in earthly life. But note that there is no mention of a hundred fold of MONEY! This confirms that we will not use money in heaven. The currency note is non-monetary economy based on brotherly love. Current world economic system is motivated by money and profits with little regards to the welfare or holistic care of the population at large i.e. "No Money, No Talk system" whereas the future economic system will be motivated by brotherly love and not money based on optimal welfare and holistic benefits for the population at large i.e. "No Money, Brotherly Love system". Which is better?...monetary economy or non-monetary economy based on brotherly love? Love your neighbor as you would love yourself; do unto others what you want others to do unto you....that will be the future global economic system.
May God grant Brotherly Love for one another.
