Looking for:
sun + moon
Song of Solomon 6
10 Who is she that looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners?

Revelation 12
1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

Wonderful! That is one of my favorite Song of Solomon <<>> Revelation links!

It becomes a KeyLink if we search for (sun, moon, woman OR she). There's also a secondary thematic correspondance between "sign" and "banner".

Check out also the following vision of the Bride of the Lamb, the New Jerusalem:

Rev 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

So would you say that the woman in Rev 12 is indeed the New Jerusalem because she is shining as the sun and the moon under her feet?

Great question! There's a great proximity between the two but I think it would be incorrect to say that they are one and the same without any reservation and proper disambiguation.

When two things share same common features it doesn't follow that the two are equivalent. The woman of Revelation 12 is the mother of the Davidic King. She represents the People of God of all times, with a particular touch on the OT Jewish community who produced the Messiah Incarnate. The woman of Revelation 21 is the Church, the People of God under the New Covenant. She is the New Jerusalem, the Bride of Christ. They both display the glory of God represented by the light and majesty of the sun and moon.

So Christ is the son of the woman of Revelation 12 and the husband of the woman of Revelation 21. Of course there is some justaposition of both symbols. The figure of Mary serves to demonstrate that. Christ was the son of Mary. But, since she obviously was a Christian as well, a member of the Church, Christ was also mistically the "Husband" of Mary, as He is of any Christian.

That helps us to explain why the saintly woman symbols in Revelation share common traits. Israel gave us the Christ who married His Church who is the New Israel.

The gentiles are grafted in (Romans 11). The new Jerusalem has 12 gates' and 12 tribes' and apostles' names as the woman has 12 stars (Rev 12 and 21).

At first a sign is shown in heaven (Revelation 12) . Then the woman is on earth and she's given wings to flee from persecution.

Her seed is described as them who follow his commandments. It doesn't say Jew nor Gentile.

Correct! The seed of the woman includes both Jew and Gentile.
