Walking hand in hand with our Beloved God

Post by RAMcGough »

While reading the Holy Word in Hebrew, my Beloved (Our Lord Jesus Christ) led me to contemplate the word yadeed (יְדִיד) which means beloved.

The Hebrew word yad (יָד) means "hand".

Thus, the word "beloved" is spelled "yad yad" like "hand hand". It echoes two hands clasping. This rings in my heart as my devekut (clinging, דְּבֵקוּת) to God, His hand holding and guiding my hand.

Deu 10:20 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave (dabaq), and swear by his name.

My Beloved Shepherd holds my hand and guides me beside still waters. I put my hand in the hand of the man who stilled the waters.

Jewish Rabbis made this connection long ago.

I thank my Beloved for the mercy He has shown me, a sinner. Praise His Name now and forever.
Praising God all the day long!

Would that be the same as "sitting at the right hand" ?

"come sit at my right hand until I have made your enemies a footstool for your feet" (Psalms 110:1)

or also like Abraham and Isaac?
Genesis 22:6 וַיֵּֽלְכ֥וּ שְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם יַחְדָּֽו
and they both went together

Rashi
Abraham, who knew that he was going to slaughter his son, was going as willingly and joyfully as Isaac, who was unaware of the matter. —

Yedid Nefesh (Hebrew: יְדִיד נֶפֶש, lit. 'beloved of the soul') is the title of a piyyut and zemer (Jewish hymn). It is usually sung on Shabbat.

The first letters of each of the four verses make up the four-letter name of God, known in English as the tetragrammaton.
