Alphabetic Verses: Aleph

I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

AV Psalm 145:1

The Sovereignty of God is the divine freedom to say I will and have it be. It is a fundamental theme of Spoke 1 (cf. The Pot and the Potter) that God displays in these verses. Each of the verbs - bless, praise, keep, and extol - are prefixed with an Aleph, which transforms the root into the first person future, signifying the idea I will. This is a fundamental grammatical function of Aleph. For example, Psalm 34.1 above opens with (Ebarkah, I will bless), formed from the root (Barak, Bless) prefixed with the letter Aleph. The examples of this in the verses above account for five of the 21 alphabetic passages in the Bible. It is clear that this is one of the primary meanings of the Letter Aleph.

Aleph is also used as a prefix to signify the imperitive mood - the command "Do it now!" All these ideas integrate with Aleph as a symbol of God the Father (Av) Who created the universe by the simple action of His Will. In this way the alphabet eternally reiterates the fundamental Christian teaching: God First!

The meaning of Aleph as I Will is exhibited most prominently in the Divine Name I AM THAT I AM which could be accurately rendered "I will be what I will be." It expresses God's absolute freedom and Soveriegnty as Creator, which is a fundamental theme of Spoke 1. It forms the acrostic corresponding to 111 , the value of the name of the Letter Aleph - the great self-chosen symbol of God Almighty. In the ultimate sense, Aleph represents the Supreme Will of the Supreme Being, (Elohim, God). This word is cognate to (Elohi, My God) used in Psalm 145.1 above. This also integrates with the Aleph KeyWord (Ani, I) used in this alphabetic verse:

I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.

AV Lamentations 3:1

All of this profoundly integrates with the position of Aleph at the beginning of the Alphabet.

Another primary Aleph KeyWord displayed in the alphabetic verses is (Ashri, Blessed). It is found in three of the verses corresponding to Aleph:

Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD.

AV Psalm 112:1

Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.

AV Psalm 119:1

Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.

AV Psalm 119:2

Ashri also appears as the first word in the first Psalm which integrates this KeyWord with the chapter sequence of the Psalms.
