The Big Picture
Listen, for I will speak of excellent things, And from the opening of my lips will come right things;
For my mouth will speak truth; Wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are with righteousness; Nothing crooked or perverse is in them.
They are all plain to him who understands, And right to those who find knowledge.
Proverbs 8:6-9
A Simple Beginning
The primary thing to understand about the Bible Wheel is the simplicity of its origin. It is what we find when we do nothing but simply "roll up" the
traditional list of sixty-six books like a scroll on a spindle Wheel of twenty-two Spokes, corresponding to the twenty-two letters of the Hebrew Alphabet.
That is all there is to it. Everything else in this study follows from this single and surprisingly simple act. Read
Chapter 1 of the Bible Wheel book for a detailed explanation.
Basic Components of the Bible Wheel
The Bible Wheel consists of four basic components:
Sixty-Six Cells
The Bible Wheel is a circular matrix of sixty-six Cells labeled sequentially from 1 to 66. Each Cell holds one book of the Bible.
The Cell number is listed below the book name. Thus Genesis is in Cell 1,
Exodus in Cell 2, and so forth.
The Alphabetic Circle
The twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet are displayed on the outer ring of the Bible Wheel. The order of
the alphabet is established in the alphabet- ically structured passages of the Old Testament, most notably Psalm 119, the great Psalm that praises God's Word from
Aleph to Tav (from beginning to end). The letters are displayed counter-clockwise because this follows the pattern of the
Hebrew language which is read from right to left.
Three Cycles
When we roll up the list of books of the Bible, the books fall into three concentric circles called Cycles. Each Cycle holds twenty-books as follows:
Twenty-Two Spokes
Each Spoke corresponds to one of the Hebrew letters and holds three books of the Bible. For example, the first Spoke holds the books of Genesis, Isaiah, and Romans:
Each book of the Bible is located on a specific Spoke and Cycle. For example, Genesis is on the first Cycle of the first Spoke. This is written Genesis (Spoke 1, Cycle 1).
Likewise, Revelation is on the last Cycle of the last Spoke, and is denoted by writing Revelation (Spoke 22, Cycle 3).
